Would i be insane to get my Skyland brushed? I like the look of brushed steel. Would i embarrass everyone if i did? No one has done this yet?

Im just thinking out loud.

Maybe you can just sell it and get the new seawolf.

I hardly think you'll embarass anybody. It's your watch, and you paid good money for it so if that's what you want to do then go ahead. Anecdotal evidence from a couple of people on here would suggest that Breitling won't try and polish it again at service, and may even do the brushing for you.

I would certainly have it done professionally if you aren't 100% about what you are doing.

It would probably look great! I just got a new Seawolf, which has the same case as the Skyland. The top of the bezel and the top of the case are brushed, and the sides are polished. That looks great. If you had the whole thing brushed, it would look a lot like the case of the previous Seawolf Titanium, the sides and everything were brushed on that one. I guess if you have a stainless bracelet for the Skyland, you would have that brushed, too?
Cheers,
Carl

Hey Carl,

Have we seen pics of your seawolf yet?

I was hoping the shop could brush the top of the case, aside from the chimney, and the top of the bracelet, leaving the sides polished. Im guessing thats the same as the seawolf/blackbird etc? Im thinking it would look great, but im still scared of the commitment! I brushed would compliment the watch nicely.

I would love to see a brushed Skyland, but don't think I would have the guts to do it to my own watch.

Hey RVD,
Just posted a few pics a couple of hours ago, here's the link to my posting:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7153

This is the same look as the Steelfish, which I love. My AD offered to brush the deployment clasp on my OR strap for me, and I am thinking of getting just the top done, and leaving the sides polished just like the case. My AD is amazing, they did a major service of my old SuperOcean right in the shop, and they can do all kinds of warranty work without sending out to Breitling. I just love that place! He offered to brush the OR clasp for me at no charge whenever I want, I can just leave it there for an hour or so.
I don't see why you can't just get the top of the case and bracelet polished, it would look great. I hope you can get an idea from my pics. However, even the quality pics I see in this forum and on the Breitling website, don't really give a good idea of the true look.
Just remember, before you get it done. I asked my AD if it could be reversed after it was brushed, and although it can, it is pretty difficult. Every time it it brushed or polished, it does take away some of the metal, so you don't want to grind it down too much. You really want to be sure before you do it. However, I think you are in a win-win situation here, as the case is identical to the Seawolf and the look is awesome. I really don't think you will regret it. To be truthful, I really find the Skyland to be a bit too shiny for me with the bracelet, and the whole thing being polished. To me, your idea is the way to go.
Cheers,
Carl
