New to the forum...I've been a watch lover for a long time...especialling Breitlings.

Can't take it anymore. Looking to pull the trigger and looking for a SA...first choice would be the Limited Edition Blacksteel. Love that watch.

For a relative newbie to making the jump to the big time watch arena, I'm looking for any and all advice you can give regarding how to deal with an AD and negotiate price(any tricks or BS they tend to use to bully you into paying more?), and any help on locating a SA Blacksteel from an AD in the US? (I live in Indianapolis and there's only one Breitling AD in the area)

I realize the Blacksteel might be tough to locate and even tougher to negotiate compared if I go for a regulare SA, but it's worth a try.

What's price range you guys would pay for both a standard SA (Black dial) and the Blacksteel watches?

Any other walk through help/advice for getting the best watch for the best deal possible would be appreciated.

Also, if locating a Blacksteel model in person proves too difficult, any trusted, authorized dealers off the internet you would recommend?

Thanks for any information. I appreciate it.

Welcome aboard. The LESA is a tough one to get a good discount on. The best I've seen for it is 15% but truthfully if you look through the sale section of this forum you can probably find a better deal ;)

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

Anyone else have any knowledge to share? Any info would be appreciated!

I'm just contacted my only AD in my area and they're "working with me" to see what they can do as far as the SA Blacksteel goes...what price would you all push for?

Thanks.

MSRP is $5700. If you got it for 15% off at $4845 it's a pretty good price, but I can tell you it won't be that easy.

If my local AD doesn't come through, what's everyone's experience with the online route? It makes me nervous if it's not from an AD, regardless of papers, references, etc.

Any tips for online options? Recommended retailers?

Just heard from the only AD in my area for a price quote on a SA Blacksteel LE. She said list was $5,700, but she would sell it to me at $4,959...which equals a 13% off list price.

What does anyone think about that?

I've never bought an LE so the rules may be different but if you have the cash to buy ...tell the AD you'll pay that price, cash, including taxes. The ADs that I've dealt with have given or offered cash deals without hesitation.

Decent for an LE. I would offer that, cash, out the door. If he will do that, it is a good deal on an LE. Take it and be thrilled. The watch you really want from a local AD. Better than I have ever been able to pull off, yet. :)

well, customers can be pushy too...

id say a good trick is to play AD's against each other..

visit one AD (u will need the money in cash, and never take the full asking price in cash with you) and just straight up, ask him (or her) what discounts they will offer for cash on the watch u want.. and give a no b.s stearn look..

then visit another, and do the same... find out who gives the best discount percentege wise, and pick the lowest 2 (or 3) and play ball. tell the dealers the offers the rival dealers are prepared to give...
i can guarentee that 1 dealer will want the sale that little bit more than the other

thing of it as reverse bidding lol..

If they're local, try to have them ship to an out of state address to save on sales tax that way you'd save even more money. If that's not possible, let us know where you're from and there are other ADs members on here can recommend.

The problem with that is that you claim to be "serious" with the cash, only to later tell him that youll think about it. People who do this too much are the reason many dealers dont take you seriously even if you are. IMO (!) a good dealer should pull his offer as soon as you walk out the door. If youre not serious, why should he be?

I think it's a good offer. Take cash in with you next time to work a nit better of a deal "out the door" ;)

Teh phrase "out the door" usually means including taxes. in other words you pay $xxx period.
