Just ordered a Black dial Cosmonaute on black croco with deployant clasp from my local AD who initially told me BUK had one in stock delivery within 7 days, now turns out it's an anthracite dial, so it'll be a couple of weeks while the dial is changed, whilst haggling for discount he mentioned that most of the companies are raising prices by 15 - 20% in the next week and was expecting the updated prices from Breitling any day now, anyone else heard this?

Stef

I heard prices would be going up in May of 2009. But in January? So early in the year?
Anyways, it looks like I am done buying Breitlings (for now). I got in before the upcoming price increases.

It's likely currency related - as has happened elsewhere over the last several weeks. The annual price rises will likely be May - to coincide with the new models post Basel.

I guess Breitlings (and other luxury watches) must be cast-iron recession and credit crunch proof.

It would be nice to think so, and to think that our "investments" have just gone up in value!!!

The reality is however, that with many of the international curriencies diving over the last few months, many importers of high value products simply can not wear the basic cost increases within their business.

I went on a honymoon in June 2008 and the Aussie dollar was at 98 US cents - what a time to travel!!
As of this morning it is somewhere around the 70 US cent mark, a drop in value of the Aussie dollar of 28.5%!!! Imagine wearing that as an importer!!!

Naturally, that is only relevant if you are importing products benchmarked against the $US, but you get the idea.

Yeah the global ecomony is in a bad way at the moment. In my opinion a price rise of 15% in the current climate is an insane policy. Here in the UK big high street names are going bust on an almost daily basis, so you'd imagine a price freeze on luxury watches (which are, let's face it, TOTAL and utter non-essential luxuries!) would be a sensible policy. But no...... when people are being made redundant in the thousands, and defaulting on their mortages, I'm absolutely convinced they'll be prepared to wear a 15% price increase for a watch........... NOT.

And it seems all the more odd give that for a little while over Xmas, US ADs were given permission to discount to 40%!! Crazy. Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see a few AD's going bust this year, especially here in the UK.

I totally agree with you, sir, totally useless watches, these Breitlings are! (YODA-TALKING)

Now that we both agree, is your Bentley Lemans for sale? 8)

Seriously, nice collection you have sir :lingsrock: and the way you have them all lined up....
AMAZING

I phoned my AD this morning, to get a price on a new Seawolf that I saw there on the weekend. It has a black dial with a black Diver Pro strap. It is $3270. with the Diver Pro, same as before the New Year, so at least that has not gone up. Ill go in next weekend to see what they have to say about the price increases, it does seem unusual so soon after the last one in May. Unfortunately, the Seawolf at my AD is not probably the dial colour I want, but when I try it on who knows. I am very reluctant to order one, for fear I get stuck with the new price. Well,we shall see.
Cheers,
Carl

LOL! Thank you kind sir for the nice words!

Hmmmm, while they may be non-essential luxuries, I'm a million miles away from saying they're useless, so I think I might just keep my hands on Le Mans! Nice try though!
