As a guy with a youtube channel and a youtuber getting increasingly interested in Breitling (

) I've been watching their on-line catalog reasonably closely over the past year or so. The first things I'd note, like many brands, Breitling makes a big deal of new stuff and never mentions the fallen soldiers, the watches that have been discontinued.
Specific observationsHowever, the second thing I'd note is that it feels like a LOT has been discontinued

.
The superocean line appears to have half the skus it once had, many of the chrono's relying on modded 7750's appear to have gone by the wayside too.
I'd also note that those lines superocean/avenger/premier (three handers)/aviator 8(three handers) that rely primarily upon selitta/eta base calibres don't seem to be getting a whole lot of love in 'core' models - usually the new watches appear to be limited editions/capsule collections etc.
Finally - an unusually high percentage of the new watches rely on either in-house or more advanced 'manufacture' calibres.
In short, Breitling appears to be limiting its exposure to and investment in eta/selitta movements.
Some other observations1. Breitling is set on growing.
2. Breitling doesn't want growth via selling huge sums of inexpensive watches but rather by selling more (but not vastly more) slightly more expensive pieces.
3. While Breitling is a chronograph specialist that isn't enough and three handers are an essential part of the mix.
Speculation time.Breitling is preparing for an in-house/manufacture calibre to replace all (or almost all) eta/selitta base calibres in the next 2 to 3 years.
thoughts?
