Post subject:  Watch winder for Transocean

Hi All, I have a Transocean that I purchased via this site a few years back under a different ID that I can't recall the details on, from Gil I believe it was. Since then I've also bought a Speedmaster and Carerra. I always wear one of the 3 and swap them out every few month or two so my question is on the winding of them. I use the the below cheap watch winder and have no issues with it. Have it on the go a while now and alternate between the 3 watches. The winder manufacturer recommends setting 2 which is rotate 2 mins, clockwise rest 6 mins and repeat. Same option exists for opposite direction, clock and counter and also 5mins clock then 5 mins counter for 3 hours and rest for 9 hours. I suppose what I'm wondering does setting 2 really sound like the best option ? Someone told me it would be doing more harm than good as the winder never lets the watch rest. Maybe the setting for 3 hours of movement and then 9 hours rest would be better ? Or would I be better of to just turn the thing off and set the watches as I swap them out ? thanks Dave.

From the description you offered, the winder winds the same amount of rotations each day in either setting. If the movement winds in both directions going counter clockwise or clockwise just evens the wear on the mechanism. I use my winder only to test my watch is running correctly as it is wound up over a week or longer otherwise I don't use the winder, I just put the watch on give it some winds and go.
