I had my Chronomat Evolution stolen a couple of months ago :( . Police nabbed the bozo and found the watch. Since I provided serial number it was in a database and I was contacted :D . I don't actualy have it back yet and I don't know what condition it's in. But hoping it's OK. I was all set to go out and get another one. ( I did have insurance and depending on the condition of the watch may still have a claim or return money.)

Wow! Very cool. How did insurance handle the claim?

I'm a little premature in my excitement knowing I'll get the watch back. Watch is being held as evidence with the States Attorneys office. I hoping to get it back soon. When it was stolen I gave police the serial number. You're right, I got lucky. I was told I had about a 5% chance of getting it back. Since I made a claim with the insurance company I have two options..either return the money or the watch. As I mentioned I don't know the condition of the watch, so I may yet still have a claim if perp trashed it. Hopefully not.

How did they determine the watches value? What percentage of the watches value did they sign the check for?

Good Question. When I purchased the watch I attached a rider or seperate schedule to my homeowners policy, about $80.00 a year. It was seperate from normal jewelry coverage under the regular policy. I paid $5400.00 incl. tax in 2005. The insurance company who will remain nameless actually gave me poor advice. In the event it is lost or stolen I was told they could replace the watch at wholesale through their own jeweler, so just insure it for what I paid for it. That same model Chrono Evo TT retails now for $8210.00, even at 20% discount it was still way over. I learned a valuable lesson. If your watch is insured check current replacement cost and have your coverage adjusted accordingly.

It's still a great relief that you got a check for it though. I need to go and check my coverages 8)

I am happy that your watch was returned. Hopefully it is not too bad of shape.
