Hello

I suddenly having trouble with my watch. It stopped dead in its tracks while it should have been properly wound up. I tried to wind it up a couple of times, which would normally make it run >30 hours, but it stopped very quickly, in a matter of minutes at best. While I wind it up, it starts running again, and the same if I move it around (simulating arm movement).

I want to bring it in for repair but it would be good to have some prior knowledge to what this might be. Anybody have a similar problem? I'm thinking it may be the spring, but why would it run at all then?

Thanks!

Probably needs a service, all automatic watches require an overhaul every 5 or 6 years. If it’s never been done or if it was done a long time ago then the oils can congeal and affect the watch’s operation. If it runs occasionally then I doubt it’s the mainspring. The only way to be sure is to send it off for inspection. Not cheap but worthwhile in the long run. Breitling will charge an arm and a leg but an inexperienced watchmaker may ruin your watch forever.
