I have a watch clasp from a leather band that I think may be fake.

The usual writing I have seen says in French, "MODELE DEPOSE" and under that "MANUFACTURE EN SUISSE". That is on a couple of the clasps I have.

The last one has English writing "STAINLESS STEEL" and under that "SWISS MADE".

The stamping on the leather band itself is all French.

They all have "BREITLING" on the middle of the other side of the clasp.

It is part of a recent purchase and is a bit of a worry.

Any of you guys seen English writing on the clasp before?

Do you think that if I turn up at the Breitling agent (and workshop) in Sydney they will be able to tell me if it is fake - and the watch too for that matter?

If you post some clear pics of the watch we should be able to determine if its a fake or not.

A normal safe route would be to ask the AD - but as good as many fakes have gotten, it's not sure that they could tell either (without opening the caseback). A good start is, as said, to post a few pics here. There are some members that are really good at spotting fakes.

What does "Model Depose" mean, in English, anyways? :?

It literally means: "part registered", which means the design is registered with the patent office and therefore protected.

The real clasp on the site in the bracelets/straps section has english writing on it. I've had both english and swiss/french. Check it:
