Hi,
Hope everyone is well.
I have a chance at a steelfish at a great price locally.
He has box and papers etc.
After doing research i found out there are a lot of fakes.
Any help with authentication would be awesome
Thanks

Yeah, there are plenty of fakes. Can you post pictures of the watch you’re looking at buying?

As others have said, decent high quality pictures are the best bet as we have some great fake spotters on here, and the Steelfish was one of the first "good" fake Breitlings produced. If the numbers on the paperwork match the watch then that's a good stat, but by no mean infallible, so pictures are going to be needed.

I tried to post pics but couldn't figure it out.
I saw the watch in person and was able to remove the back the movement was correct and it had all papers and the number on the movement case and papers matched. I am 100% sure its authentic.
However the crown dosent engage the movement it just spins and pulls out of the case when trying to switch between winding and date time setting.the watch works and the balance was spinning.
I am sure i can find a crown and that it can be repaired internally.but i do have a question on the crown tube.
Can the crown tube be replaced or is it integrated in the case?
Thanks for all your help!!!

Thanks!
It screws down fine
Am i correct in assuming the tube is ok given that fact or could there be other issues? I dont want to go too deeply down the watch repair rabbit hole lol

You may have a serious problem with the crown stem not engaging. Breitling will probably insist on a complete service. $$$

There is always a reason why anything is being sold at a "great price". Better do some research on service from Breitling...I'd add about $700-$850 to the purchase price and then confirm if it is a good deal.
