Fred - was there any concern with releasing this watch so close to the previous rainbow version? I know it’s a great cause and it shouldn’t matter, but I can’t help but think of the guy who buys the rainbow version knowing it’s a limited edition and then having this one come out so close afterwards. Given the cause I know it shouldn’t matter and this isn’t like an Omega LE of 10,000.

I’ll admit, the more I look at these rainbow versions, they’re actually growing on me. If you asked me a month ago, I’d say no way but the blue dial does look pretty nice. This doesn’t mean I’m buying one, just that I can start to see the appeal in these.

An absolutely fantastic cause - no doubt about that. But no, these rainbow ones aren't growing on me at all unfortunately.

I did see one member over on the Rolex forums that bought the black dial rainbow edition was a little upset that this version came out shortly after it so I was curious is anyone else felt the same way.

To me, one's blue and one's black, so that makes them different and it therefore wouldn't bother me personally. I guess I may be a little irritated if I'd bought the black and found I actually much preferred the blue (especially with it arriving only a few weeks after the black release), but that aside the only time I'd be really annoyed is if a previously limited edition was then reissued in an identical form but as a standard production piece.

There is a fair bit of upset in a thread on the TZ-UK forum; some are looking to cancel their initial orders on the grounds that it's not such a limited edition (despite the change of dial colour).

I saw similar reactions on Facebook, although most were supportive. I guess, to a person who buys a LE to have something exclusive this is a negative addition, but if you bought the first LE because you just liked it and you don't care what other people wear, then the blue LE shouldn't be a factor. To me, it seems like Breitling figured out they underestimated the response to the black LE and they're trying to capitalize on the market demand of the rainbow concept by increasing the production run of the blue LE by 4x.
