Post subject: | Love My Chronomat Evolution but Thinking About Trading 4 SA |
Hey everyone Happy New Year! I have had my Chrono Evo for some time now..since June 08. I am debating on whether or not to go to A Super Avenger. I like the new one with black dial and silver batons and bigger applied wings logo on the dial. I know they both share caliber 13 movemeents based on valjoux 7750. I dont dive ...maybe take an occassional swim and probably would never really use chrono underwater, but I don't like the fact that the Chrono Evo has to be operated above water to use underwater. I also feel like the SA is more "bang for the buck or power." Also, the SA is bigger, thats todays trend. Also, when you have nothing else good going for you and think people only like material things about you maybe it will work for Me. I like the SA but I don't know if its too big for my wrist. Not to offend others some say the SA looks fake, and the Chrono Evo is a good all around watch for all occassions. Can anyone tell me what they know that are the main differences between the Chrono Evo and Super Avenger? Also, any thoughts as to whether or not I should upgrade? Thanks all! nick |

Well it has to be your choice, the chrono use is the same between the Chronomat and the SA - you can't start / stop either chronographs underwater. The Windrider range is generally a more sophisticated design (techically I mean, aesthetics is personal taste) and hence more expensive. As you noted though, the Chronomat is smaller. |

Hmmmmmm, without being as much help as a chocolate fireguard here, it really comes down to what you prefer. Also apart from the size, few people would call the SA an upgrade from a Chronomat. Don't get me wrong, I love the SA (I have one myself), but the Chronomat is probably a nicer finished watch, and is more classy instead of sporty. breitlingfan2008 wrote: I dont dive ...maybe take an occassional swim and probably would never really use chrono underwater, but I don't like the fact that the Chrono Evo has to be operated above water to use underwater.
On this point, they BOTH can only be operated safely above the surface. The fact that the SA doesn't have screw down pushpieces doesn't mean it is safe to operate them underwater On balance, I think it literally will come down to the size and the aesthetics. Performance of both is comparable (as you say they use the same movement and are WR to the same depth), so really it comes down to which you personally prefer. |

I dont think that the size of your watch is what will make people like you better! I'm sure you have alot of good going for you....cheer up, buddy! Mac <GIVES breitlingfan2008 A HUG> |

Both are awesome. Just get the one you want. Dont worry about which one is better (besides, they are practically the same).. If you want the SA and you think it looks good on you, go for it. |

I have been looking at the Blackbird for sometime now, that is about 2 years. It is based on the Chronomat, just a different dial and movement. It is a little over my price range, but I know that if I had wanted it badly enough, I would have got it. Instead, I got a Steelfish and an Avenger Skyland Blacksteel, both from the Aeromarine range. I keep on going in to my AD and looking at the Blackbird, and also the Chronomat, but just find the looks of the Aeromarine line more pleasing. I would say that the Steelfish is beautifully finished, and also the Blacksteel. I guess all I can say is that the Windrider line has a more refined look and finish. I was never a big fan of the SA, but now that they have updated the dial with the batons, the black dial SA is now one of my favourites. I love the look of that dial, and also the larger Breitling logo. I find the SA with the black dial and batons now one of the best looking Breitlings. I would say that it would look great in any situation, casual or dressy. I just wish I could see exactly that one at my AD. I wouldn't worry too much about the size. Apparently, it is very comfortable. Once I actually see one, I am going to try it myself. I can totally understand your desire to make the switch! Cheers, Carl |

I too have a Skyland BlackSteel and after having tried on the SA I said to myself "thats it?" Its not thaaat much of a difference. Having said this, I placed an order for a SA and should be receiving it next week ![]() |

you already have the Evo. You 'need' the SA. Basically you need to find a way to have both. You have the disease, and that's the cure. You think you want a change, but what you really need is both. you'll miss the Evo in many situations, and love the SA. git er done. |

Could not have said it better myself. I always say, there is a big difference between "need" and "want". In this case, the need is definitely there ![]() ![]() Cheers, Carl |

I was on AuthenticWatches.com just to get the price of the SA. It always lists the full retail price (which I usually find pretty accurate, matching the prices at my AD), and their discounted price. Struck me as odd, but the SA and the AS are exactly the same price! Cheers, Carl |

wow thank you guys so much for your help and input. The chrono evo looks great on wrist , I don't know something is telling me go bigger but even the AD said your Chrono Evo looks much better on the wrist vs SA. I dont know though what the technical idfference is...both b13 and eta 7750 valjoux..so I wonder what the difference is tech wise. Also this Chrono Evo was a gift to me..I could see trading bigger size..but then again there is sentimental value. Something I will be thinking about... nick |
