The rubber strap that came on my superocean with the standard buckle is getting a little worn, ready to replace. Was considering buying a new strap on deployant from breitling online store.
I really do not like the standard buckle on the rubber but the strap is comfortable once on. Is the rubber on new style deployant any more or less comfortable?
Thx

I’m sure you’re going to get a lot of “opinions“…

I personally do not like deployant and am 100% buckle for comfort. I feel like deployant adds too much thickness. I have no issue using the “regular sizing“ of a strap with a buckle… Although some people might like more adjustment ability which a deployment clasp offers.

Having said all that… If you’re wearing it in the ocean I’m a big NATO fan. Many a watch has come out hanging by one spring bar with NATO or similar.

Funny, I was just pondering posing a similar question tonight about a rubber strap with a deployment buckle.

Both my watches are on leather straps with deployment buckles. I really love the deployment buckles and find them to be very comfortable and infinitely adjustable.

I've been thinking about a new watch on a rubber strap and wanted some input on tang vs deployment buckle on it. I've read about how the tang buckle wears through a leather strap in short order; is the same thing happening to your rubber strap? How long have you worn it?

Got this watch about three years ago on a cruise. It’s in a rotation with two Panerai but it gets used allot when we go to the beach and in the summer. It just looks tired lol

In my opinion, it is really hard to beat the rubber strap with the micro adjustment deployant clasp on the SuperOcean. I will agree it does add a bit more thickness vs. the standard buckle but I think the pro's outweigh the cons. I personally like the micro adjustment deployant clasp so much, I had a couple of leather straps custom made so that I could use that combo on my Navitimer. Anyways, just my $.02.

With rubber its deployant every time for me.
I don't mind the buckle with diver strap, but the micro adjustable clasp is great.

If only the deployant clasp with leather strap was as comfortable.

Rubber with deployment how I do It. I wear my watches primarily on rubber straps and with deployment it is more comfortable for me, plus the ease of taking it on and off.

If there's ever a choice between pin-buckle or deployant, then it's deployant for me every single time no matter what the strap is. Deployants are IMO more comfortable as a rule as they often have better micro-adjustment, they put much less wear and tear on the strap itself as it's not being bent and pulled through the buckle all the time, and IMO they just look more classy and elevate the watch to another level.

I'm curious, what do you find uncomfortable about the deployment on leather?

The D shape that the clasp creates with the leather strap.
I find that there's a bit that digs into my wrist.
I tolerate it, but I wish it was as comfortable as the 2 button clasp

That's interesting. I've worn a leather deployment buckle nearly every day for 14 years (except for the better part of a year I spent in Iraq) and I never noticed that little tab being uncomfortable. I just looked to see where it rests when I wear my watch, and I discovered that it's right in the center of my wrist. My wife says I'm not very sensitive...maybe that's the reason why I find it comfortable? :D

I think Breitling just changed their leather strap deployant system. Not much info on the net yet, but can't wait to go see it in person in store once this pandemic is over.

The deployant rubber strap is very comfortable a d durable. And like one other member said it will elevate your watch to a new level.
