I am not the first owner of my Emergency Mission. Currently, it's in for a complete service as the battery died, and it could use a good polish. Plus, the hour totalizer stopped resetting within days of the battery dying.

The timepiece, and the service ($660) was expensive. But as a vested owner, Breitling refuses to tell me anything about it. They won't tell me when my watch was produced- which is ridiculous, or how many times it has been in for service. One would think they would be proud to promote their products by telling people about them. No. Note that I could care less about anything remotely to do with former owners. But basic info about my expensive timepiece should be expected.

This is a major customer service flaw.

My E came from a watchmaker who bought up a bunch of old stock from a guy selling his business as he was retiring. He found my E amongst the rubble. In it's original case with VHS Tape Tester, Screwdriver & all paperwork, and we even did the transfer too Breitling together.

My E, OK I, had a bad fall and the E got damaged. After an £800 insurance claim it came back like new, but no provenance on the watch was ever produced. This in the UK.

Thing that still makes me grin is the screwdriver.

I guess Breitling don't make time to give a little history. Not any profit in it.

I guess there will never be. Sad isn't it.

I agree it's a bit of a shame not to be able to get a bit of history on a watch - after all, I'd assume serial numbers are noted down on a db somewhere when a watch comes in for a service.... or maybe not.

Then again, Breitling isn't Patek. With Patek every single watch they've ever produced is treated like one of their children, and they pride themselves on still being able to service every single watch they've ever made. Very cool, but you don't half pay for the privilege of that!

I recently purchased a preowned limited edition and contacted Breitling to see how many were made and when. They had no trouble telling me that but couldn't tell me if it was still under warranty or not? Told me to look at my warranty information which was missing and why I asked. If I sent the watch in for a warranty repair I bet they would have no trouble telling me. Sometimes I think it's who you communicate with at Breitling.

I think BUK do track service history, at least in the short term. I had cause to send my CSO in for repair after accidental damage. This was a year after a full overhaul and they knocked £200 off the repair bill as a goodwill gesture. My B-1 has now gone in for the full works and I have asked the AD to request Breitling provide a detailed breakdown on the work done as in my experience this is often lacking. I have found BUK service to be generally excellent but getting feedback from them is very difficult.
