hello, new here and to Breitling. i just started looking at the superoceans, SO heritage and avenger seawolf. a bit confusing but i think i've narrowed down to those models. i have a quick question on the superocean. the ones i looked at have all the numbers showing as light, or i guess 'luminesced'. but some, like on the breitling site, only have the 6, 9 and 12, the other numbers are same color as the the watch face. is that a difference in the model year maybe?

and if anyone has any info to help decide on model, great. i like the dive watch look and feel. i looked at the planet oceans and liked them. that was before i even looked at Breitling. tried on the rolex sea dweller and it just didnt feel as comfortable as the superocean, looked alot smaller too, which i dont think is true, but just looked that way, to me.
i am around the water alot, but dont actually dive. i really like the look of the heritage but would be afraid of scratching the bezel in everyday use. that bronze chrono and rubber band is sharp! and i like the idea of the avenger seawolf, its just cool, but i think is a little overkill for me. the superocean seems to fit right in the middle for my use. of course everyone tells me it wont be my last breitling, so maybe over time.... :D

thanks!

It definitely wont be your last. The Superocean with the solid 6, 9, 12 and outlined other numbers is the newest model. Its been around for less than a year.

The Avenger Seawolf also has two variations. There is the titanium version that is now discontinued but can still be found in stock some places, and there is the new stainless steel version (which has the stenciled looking numbers and a brushed finish) that came out around the same time as the new superocean.

Go try them on at you AD and see how you like them. One will definitely "speak" to you more than the others.

I purchased my SuperOcean in September, it is the older model dial, I didn't like the newer dial because the 15 was cut off by the date window and I received a better price getting the older dial. I did like the red SuperOcean lettering on the newer dial. My model is 294 and is in the 07 Breitling Catalog (Silver Prop plane on the front)

I wear my watch every day and goes well with everything. I am in Sales so when traveling I am wearing long sleeve dress shirts or polo shirts and I believe the watch goes well. When home I am in jeans or shorts and love the watch.

However, I am ready to buy the next one because the addiction started after I purchased this one. I think the next will be a White Super Avenger.

Here is a pic of my watch.

nice watch. i like it more everytime i look at it. i even just like the name 'superocean'. i see what you mean by the 15. the ones i saw i'm pretty sure had the red superocean lettering, so maybe i mistook the other numbers. or maybe i saw them in a catalog. so many models so little time. I was thinking if it was an older model maybe it would be better priced.

the avenger seawolf, the one i saw looked to have a 'duller' finish than the SO. would that be a titanium case? it didnt seem to jump out at me as much as the SO. i'd like to find both in yellow and compare. it looks like they are different shades of yellow also.

i think i can say the bronze SO heritage spoke to me, but the coral and yellow SO's were yelling. yellow slightly louder, haha.

If you want a yellow superocean, you have no choice but to get the new model, as the old one was not available in yellow (other than the older superocean professional from many years back).. Both the new and old seawolf have "dull" (read: brushed) finishes.
