Hey, bought my first breitling, this is my first post. I purchased my Superocean Heritage, second hand, from an authorized dealer, got all the paper work, mint condition box and watch as well as an insurance certificate.

I’m curious about the date locations, mine is at 3 o’clock and I’ve noticed that some pictures online show the same, while others show the date at 6 o’clock. Does anyone know why there are different date locations/ what it means?

Thanks!

I think I’ve answered my own question after looking at specific models on chrono24 instead of google images: it appears that the 42mm heritagé 1 all have the date at 3 o’clock, while the 46 have them at 6. The newer heritage 2 42mm all have the date at 6. I’m 99% sure this is the case, but am still curious about why the differences between sizes and generations.

Feel free to chime in and help the new guy!

Welcome to the forum,

I can't give you a definite answer but I suspect it is due to the different movements used, I am sure someone with more knowledge of the SOs will chime in.

No particular reason for different date positions (for the vast majority of movements that is) other than it's a way of differentiating models, and for aesthetic/design reasons. As you say, the older 42mm and 46mm models have different date locations even though they use the same B17 movement. The newer 42mm model however has the date window at 6 like the newer 46mm version though (and they both use the B20 movement).
