Hi,

My first and only watch, a Superocean from 2004 (A13340), recently changed color from blue to brown. Have anyone seen this before or experienced the same thing? I have mixed feelings since I am not sure how it will affect the value or even if something is wrong...

I appreciate your time and insight, thank you very much.

Welcome to the forum. OK, so you have owned the watch from new and the outer dial has turned brown during your period of ownership? I haven't heard of this issue. I am interested because I own the same watch with a black dial. You say the colour changed recently, how quickly did this happen? I am thinking water ingress somehow, has the watch been serviced during your ownership? If not then yes the value will be affected and I suspect a full overhaul by Breitling is required. It won't be cheap but I believe that this model is slowly increasing in value so may be worth the investment if you love the watch and intend to keep it. That outer dial colour change is quite strange. Others may chip in but I believe something is amiss with the seals and contamination has occurred. I would advise against using a non Breitling authorised repairer as this can result is sub standard work and further problems down the line, Breitling will guarantee for a year.

Thank you for your response. No, I bought the watch in 2013 from an authorized dealer in Sweden, and serviced the watch in 2017 at the same dealer. I suspect it happened rather quickly - I looked at it and thought it was some weird reflection but after double checking I realized it was indeed brown. After that I looked at the most recent photo I have of my watch and concluded it was blue before. In one photo about 3 weeks old I can see the watch is a more faded brown than it is now, but it is hard to tell since it is from a distance and shot from an angle. It is possible I have not noticed the fading process at all.

Once again, thank you. I can assure you I would definitely not let a non authorized repairer touch my watch.

If it happened after the service then it may be worth going back to the AD to see what they can do, if only as a matter of goodwill. Breitling service includes a year's warranty and whilst you're out of time they may be willing to help.
