Jeff Stein, the owner of "onthedash.com" & chronocentric.com is one of the world's most widely respected watch collectors, the "Heuer Guru" par excellence.

nice to read his thoughts about the emerging strategies of Breitling under Georges Kern - who not only embodies but defines that strategy.
and there's much more to come, quite soon ;)

I have to say, I pretty much wholeheartedly agree with those bullet points....., including the bit in the brackets!

this was just published on Fratello; in-depth "hands on" review of the New Premier.

Different from most other large watch blogs, fratello speaks it's mind and doesn't only copy&paste from company pr blurbs.

yes, Mike is a personal friend - but I was still a bit nervous how the Premier would fare

I actually came across this Fratellowatches review earlier today and I thought it was very good. The Premier had nothing to worry about, Fred!

I think he was totally correct about the Navi 8 in the intro, and maybe even on the reasons for the initial reception it received.

It's no secret here that I wasn't instantly blown away by the Premier when I first saw it in pictures, but since trying one on that has all changed, and it's now right at the very top of my list. In fact, the only reason I haven't bought one already is because I'm waiting to see if there's something else coming that I would like more! (If only the "watch fund" was a little bigger! )

There's lots I agree with in this review, and I totally agree with his observation about the grooves in the side of the case : I wasn't a fan of them in pictures either, but in person they look great and give the case an almost art-deco look.

The only thing I really disagree with the reviewer on is his issue with the crown size. Personally I think the crown is perfectly proportioned as it is.

I agree, the upward spiral recently from Breitling is refreshing.

I AM really glad Breitling is paying attention to the vintage collector and providing them with remakes of the classics, that definitely solidified and reminds of the brands great heritage in sport and utility watches, but I do hope they keep an eye on the conservative modernist as well. We would like to see modern designs inspired by historic models.

We can all agree the removal of futuristic and/or blingtastic models is a thing to rejoice at.

It’s a very good article and it’s refreshig to see honest feedback, not like something you’d see on H o d I n k e e or most other sites. I admit I’m not a huge fan of the Navi 8 series but there are several other options in the current lineup that I do like. I think this is the first time I’m really looking forward to Basel since they introduced the B01.

My only disappointment is similar to Drivers is that the watch fund can only go so far and it’s dry after the Superocean purchase in December.

I'm genuinely excited for Breitling at Baselworld this year. And that's a very good thing considering the show is going to be smaller with the Swatch group's absence.

Good article and I'll echo the sentiments expressed by others that I'm actually looking forward to the releases this year rather than the previous few years when I had the mentality of "what non innovative, disappointing and ugly releases will be this year." I basically had assumed I would be disappointed the past few years while this year I have a positive and bright outlook on the brand I haven't had in a long while.

Altair, bling is dead, but the respect for heritage includes the icons of the Schneider era too, these have saved the company!
