announced today - a Navitimer that Willy Breitling would have loved, I think. Or might have launched, if the crisis hadn't hit, as it incorporates many of the design elements he added to the SuperOceans, Datora, Pult and Chrono-Matic of the period. It is the first, hope others will follow. 43mm. B01.

quoting Georges form IG:
"Very happy to announce the first “Capsule” collection at Breitling around the golden years of civil aviation between the 50ies and 70ies. Our “Capsule” collections will be limited in time and/or in production and/or in networks. These pieces are not numbered which is the difference towards our limited editions more targeting collectors. The first product of our “golden age civil airline squad” is the SWISSAIR. SWISSAIR was one of the most emblametic airlines of this time. The product will be available on a “vintage style” leather strap or on a mèche bracelet or on our famous Air Racer (or better known as “Gainsbourg”) bracelet (please swipe). The dial is really cool with it’s orange hands and indexes which makes it so different. But it is in my opinion also totally modern! Or let’s call it “modern retro”. I absolutely LOVE this watch and will wear it (of course) with the Air Racer bracelet! "

Looks great, I'm a sucker for the retro look. Not 100% sold on the logo on the caseback though, but I like where they're going a lot.

Reading about this new Capsule series my only concern is for my wallet, and marriage.

love the dial, style and red hands

the only thing i dont like about this and the bentley range is where they are putting the logo, i would much rather see it etched on the rotor base rather than hiding any of the movement by being on the caseback

Those hands are striking. I think, overall, it works. I have no connection or interest in SwissAir, but I do like the color scheme on the dial.

Yes, looking forward to the capsule collection rolling out.

General question. With SIHH next week, what’s the strategy of announcing this so close before the show?

Right, so I'd think announcing now might meant this gets lost a bit in the flood that will come next week. Or is this an attempt to steal some of the lime light. Just curious.

That's an absolute thing of beauty! I love that vintage Chrono-matic/Pult style handset and the minute counter markings. Very vintage. I love it!

The only thing I'm not all that keen on (like a couple of others here), is the logo on the display back. For a start it looks a bit too modern for the rest of the watch, plus as Alex said it kind of detracts from the view of the movement. I'd have preferred it to be smaller and on the rotor, or engraved around the edge of the caseback. But it's not a showstopper by any means!

That's a really nice release. Kudos to Georges again!

WatchFred, I am wondering what you can share about what inspired this latest release.

Anyone care to point out the design elements from the SuperOceans, Datora, Pult, etc.? Admittedly, I am not as familiar with the Willy Breitling catalog as I should be. I do see the Chono-Matic hands.

we'll see this stealing the thunder of some SIHH announcements, while "attention to watches is high", I hope ;)

Very cool looking! I like it! Agree with the others that I wish the logo was a bit more discreet on the case back but overall I think it's a winner.

I think it's a winner. I like the slim-downed dial and bracelet. Colors are striking (perhaps not for me) and the dial itself counter markings / vintage-look works. I agree on the logo but otherwise very nice.

I always wondered whether a bit of the late 60's/early 70's Chrono-matic vibe would ever resurface. Guess we have our answer!

I really like it. Things seem to be headed in a great direction these days.

Does nothing for me, my money is safe until the retro release of the AVI 765 comes out!
