I am very much looking forward to the releases this year. In fact, the recent ones and the promise of more have brought me back to the forum. Will they all be at Basel or will they roll out throughout the year?

throughout the year, but some nice things coming for Basel, I'm sure.

So the wings logo isn’t totally scrapped. I hadn’t realized that.

The Chronomat was redesigned in 2018. We only got two new models, while the older design has continued. I expect we'll see more of the new design moving forward, while the older version is phased out. Maybe a 41mm version as well?

Certainly, on a B01 basis, possibly also a 40 mm version.

It wasn’t a redesign it was a minor tweak. I think the line will be funny redesigned.

That's a fair distinction, but do you think a full redesign will happen one year following the "tweak"?

From what I have seen georges posting social media It wouldn’t surprise me. Look what they managed to do with the navi 8 and premier lines in 12 months. When I say fully redesigned I am thinking externally.

These guys are going full speed (without compromising on quality). I’ve said it before but one of the things that impressed me the most is they are decisive and not afraid to take feedback and course correct. To me those are two signs of good management.

It looks like just about anything is on the table for a redesign/streamline.

I guess we'll see. Honestly, I'd be surprised to see a complete re-working so soon after releasing the current tweaked version. Then again, with only two models released, and no re-working of the case or bracelet, the company hasn't put too much investment into it such that they couldn't kick it to the curb. With the brand's new leadership, I guess all options are on the table.

They might come out with a Chronomat light such as they did with the Navitimer. A less busy version that appeals to the Daytona crowd.

I was actually thinking about that the other day as I was admiring my fantastic new Vacheron Overseas Chronograph. The watch felt like a Chronomat done right: A big, flashy Swiss watch with involved design and vibrant dial and an overall cool-yet-elegant feel.

Breitling can't compete with VC on the finishing front at current price points, but in terms of design and engineering I think they can overcome the Vacheron with a slightly smaller, somewhat tweaked Chronomat with contrasting brushed and polished surfaces. They could also continue to provide the classic Chronomat as is for a while and see which version outsells to determine future design language. It would be an interesting exercise!

Exactly how I feel about my blue dial Chronomat 44 GMT. Even felt that way when I put it back on my wrist after trying on a white dial Overseas chronograph at the boutique.

They are definitely going for the same thing here. The Overseas has finishing that is just unbelievable, but the Breitling is a fraction of the cost. Now that it has an in house movement it has a real chance at making it in the big leagues if they tweak the design a bit to make it more civil and less sporty, and apply the same finishing level they have done with limited editions such as the Transocean LE. That would be something! :lingsrock:

It would be especially great if we see some innovation in dial treatment, an area that Breitling used to excel in. The dark green Bentley Pioneer I saw the other day at an AD was perfection! Great colour choice by Breitling I have to say. I was left with a dificult choice choosing between the Panda Premier with the excelent case design or the Bentely with the classy dial but awkward Bentley badge covering what is the Premiers nicest touch.

Anyway, reworked Chronomat to compete with the Overseas and destroy the Daytona. Do it Breitling!

That would be. I'd miss a sport bezel on the Chronomat, so I hope they don't do away with that, but the Overseas chrono is an impressive piece all the same.

I picked up a blue-dial Headwind recently, and am amazed at the beauty of the dial. Rolex fans drool over the sunburst blue dial on the Submariner - which is gorgeous - but the Headwind dial, with its par epargne font and markings, subdued blue hue, and sunburst effect, is no less beautiful. In some ways, its elegance is almost incongruous with such a big and sporty watch design. Regardless, I love it. I can honestly say I've never seen a printing treatment that striking on another watch. I wouldn't mind seeing Breitling return to that level of refinement and attention to detail.
