Considering an Ocean Heritage II in Black and Rose Gold. Looking for opinions on the black rubber band vs. Steel Mesh. I have never had a watch with a rubber band. Buying as a dress watch.

I find rubber bands to be very comfortable but for a dress watch it would have to be the mesh for me.

Ok, dress watch. I would have to go for the steel mesh. Too bad Breitling does not make a two tone steel mesh. I would like to see one to see if it works.
If you get a steel mesh later on one could purchase the black rubber band. Anyway, I feel Geo. Kern hit a home run on this watch as well as the premier line. You have exceptional taste!
Wear this watch in good health.

I'd get the mesh bracelet. If you want the rubber strap as well, call around to the boutiques and they should be able to get you on with just the tang buckle which is a lot less than the deployant clasp and strap.

The mesh is extremely comfortable and much dressier than the rubber. So if using as a dress watch then definitely steel.

tried this exact watch on a week ago in Sydney, the black rubber does match well in contrast to the rose gold and black bezel/dial, but I would not have anything less than the steel mesh, bought one on a super 42mm with blue dial/bezel for the mrs, the steel looks so much more classy than the rubber, not sure if breitling do a black steel pvd mesh that would be the ultimate, rubber is just so not classy, no matter what watch it is on imho.

All right, I will play the devils advocate, I have both the steel mesh and the rubber strap. With this particular setup I would go with the rubber only because it does not incorporate a third color into the mix. With the rubber strap the black and gold "pop" more than when they are combined with the steel mesh. Since it would only take five minutes to swap them out why not get both and make everybody happy! Congrats on the watch, on my short list!

As most others have said, rubber is just not a dress material. Sporty? Yes. Dressy? No.

That said, I much prefer the SOH models on rubber, but if dressy is your plan then it's got to be the mesh.

I have Rubber, Croco and Steel for this watch and they all look good. It would appear that on Chrono24 these watches are also going up in value. Mine is now worth about what I paid. I heard somewhere that this model is pretty popular and on backorder right now.

SOH is the best selling model these days, I think Fred confirmed that awhile ago.
