Post subject:  Breitling NHLPA Special Edition

I was at Pacific Centre Mall at downtown Vancouver today, and stopped by to look in at La Swiss like I usually do. Nothing too exciting inside the store, but as I was leaving I noticed an interesting model in the window. It looked like an Avenger Skyland, with a black dial, and PRO I strap, it had the stencil-type numerals. As well, there was the NHLPA (National Hockey League Players Assn, centered in Toronto) logo, just beside the calendar at 3 o'clock. I believe the price tag said $4450. I did not have the mental energy to inquire inside the shop, not being in the mood for a sales pitch. Just wonder if anyone knows of this model, I saw a link to one on eBay, which was a SA. I suppose if it's a special edition, it could be a SA, but with the stencil numerals as in the case of the SA Blacksteel. Quite an interesting model.
Cheers,
Carl

i believe it's a super avenger nhl edition... I don't think it's all that rare as I know a couple people who have one. there's a picture of it in the special edition thread

I saw one in the window of Time and Gold as well, must admit I thought the logo looked a bit tacky, it made the watch look a bit like one of the free give- away watches that you get sometimes at multi level marketing seminars!

Yes, but that's not the one with the stenciled numbers Carl saw - the fact that they were stenciled makes me believe there's also an AS version out now.

There's a white and black dial SA SE from a few years back, but there is indeed a new AS version.

No offense to anyone who has one, but I tend to agree with you on this one Ian. The only dial logos that I think "work" are military unit logos on Aerospace/Airwolf models.

Having said that I do also like the Reno logo on the LE's they have produced each year for the Reno Air Races.

I have to agree that I was not overly impressed by the looks. When I think that is only a Special Edition, the only difference from a regular one being the logo, it seems even less attractive. Even moreso, when I think that I got my LE Blacksteel for about the same price!
Cheers,
Carl

You would have to be a huge hockey fan... and even then I would have to pass... maybe if you got if for a nice enough deal, you could always swap the dial out too.
