Post subject:  UTC Model Number / Caseback Question

Can anyone refresh my memory as to whether or not Breitling, when at the end of the UTC production, fitted casebacks with what stock they had left irrespective of the model.

The reason I ask is that I've found what looks like an E70175 for and Emergency but the caseback shown in the listingis an E70172 for Aerospace. The front of the UTC is an E70175 or E70176 every day of the week and the listing states it is a 22mm/19mm size case. (the E70172 was a 20mm/18mm case size.)

However, I seem to remember someone saying that, to use up the remaining parts stock at the end of the UTC module production era, some UTCs were fitted with 'any old' caseback as the casebacks were all the same size.It looks likethe genuine article and I have contacted the seller with some specific questions but any info re casebacks would be gratefully received.

Thanks as always.

Post subject:  Re: UTC Model Number / Caseback Question

I've had a look some old pictures of my old watches and UTC and what is up for sale would appear to be an E70176 with an E70172 case back.(??)

I've spoken to BUK and they have clarified there was no use of remaining stock case backs, irrespective of what nomenclature was shown, to complete the last of the UTC modules. What I recall being told is not the case (pardon the pun).

Safe to say my quest to locate an E70175 goes on as the E70176, although would fit the Emergency it wouldn't look right as the gap between UTC and the interhorns of the watch head would be too great.
