I am currently looking to buy a new Breitling in a black case. After researching for a while I limited my options to the Hurricane 45 , Skyland Imageand Blackbird 44. Tried and liked both but can't really make a decision.

While I like the Hurricane so much but I feel it's overpriced and am a bit concerned to put such an amount of money in a new material Breitlight

Would love to get your expert views

Personally I like black bodied watches but have not been happy with how the coated watches look after a year or two. With material like
Breitlight it is the color so it will not scratch through to base metal. Having said that I do not know what the of production cost is for this material or it's projected lifespan but all you need to do is look at the durability of a $50.00 Gshock to see that these materials will last.
As far as value that is up to you and your comfort level spending that amount of money. I can say from personal experience that the weight benefit would be enough for me to take a second or even third look at the Skyland.
Just my .02, Frank.

I posted over on TRF but I'll say it again that I'd go for the Hurricane. I think the Breitlight case will age better in time since it won't show the markings that the black steel models will. At least I don't think it will. I own the Colt Skyracer and I love it. I never thought I'd buy it when it came out but after trying it on and seeing how great it feels on the wrist, I had to buy one before they're not available anymore.

What I should have said was that if the Skyland/Avenger 2 was in the Breitlight material I would give it a second go. The weight of the stainless case is not something I can live with in my situation. I think the Breitlight material is the answer to a question not asked by many but a solution to those of us that would appreciate it.
Hope this helps, Frank.

I think black watches look great. But all of the coated ones eventually scratch up. Can't quite justify the cost for what I still consider synthetic as "plastic". So I got a Tudor Blackshield ceramic.
I think it's a cool watch.

Desperado, just curious, but why did you rule out the Skyracer?

My personal issue with the Skyracer is the too much white font on the dial and bezel :)
