So, I clattered my Navi on a door in the way into the office this morning.

Spring bar popped and the watch hit the ground.

No exterior damage which was my initial concerrn. However when I got to my destination I realised it had stopped running.

I pulled the crown and just left it out

I can hear the rotor spin.

What's the likely culprit?

It's been 6 years since it was serviced so will probably just send it back, however being in the middle East there may be a time delay.

Massive shout out to Thomas in the Moda mall Bharain breitling store.

The breitling boutique the has a full workshop and technicians.

Problem was rectified quickly (chronograph stack issue I think he mentioned).

I'm happy, and will use them for service work, especially if they can come anywhere close to a 2 week turnaround for a service he suggested tonight. Took 14 weeks in Europe last time...

popped into their sister store today on a tip that they might have some short version croco straps.

apparently they had been sent to the store in error, store was happy to discount them to clear their stock and offered to me at 44% of rrp, i got them down a bit further!

now have a nice new 740ps to replace the old 1, its amazing how much the colour has changed over the years.
also got new spring bars to replace the one that was damaged when the watch hit the floor.

thats 2 different boutiques in the same city I've left pleased with in the last week.

Just to follow this up.
I don't wear this watch too often, when I wore it last I noticed that with the chronograph running the watch would stop at about 57 secs. At this point the watch, not just the chronograph would stop.

I've since taken the watch back and had it rectified. Apparently what had happened is the tabs on the back of the dial had bent so the dial was fouling on the chronograph spindle. Having had this explained to me it's now obvious when looking at the pics.

Watch is now back and running well. Timing slip and pressure test done.

Glad all sorted, a strong case for a NATO strap. If a spring bar pops the other will hold the watch. :D

Perhaps, although I've not seen many navitimers on nato straps.

I got new spring bars with the new strap so the older 1s were retired. It's used a few times a month, and mainly to the office so I'll just be a bit more careful in future

I’ve only ever had one fail, luckily on a beater. You should be fine with the new stuff.
