I hit the NYC boutique this week while on business. Tried on the Navi 8. I really like it. I don’t think I’ll buy it, but I liked it. They had others in the Navi 8 line, but I didn’t see any other Basel releases (but admittedly I didn’t ask).

I also tried on a Montbrillant 01 for kicks. I was told it was the last one.

Personally I prefer your Pelagos sitting on the table there!

Finally got the chance to try on the ill-named Navitimer 8. I mean no disrespect to those who may like this watch, or who may own one -- but, my own reaction was not favorable.

Honestly, on the wrist, this watch does absolutely nothing for me. It is a soulless piece that leaves me as emotionally empty as the seconds sub-dial. I could go on -- but won't. I think you get the picture...

Never really paid attention to how empty the second subdial is until you pointed it out.

Yeah, I agree, don't care for the numberless seconds sub-dial along with the empty bezel. Hope they improve on this design. Also heard a rumor that they are tossing around the idea that they may rename the Navitmer 8 line to Aviator 8 (?).

38mm Navitimer 1 is marketed to women, which I think is a mistake. Should be considered unisex.

I tend to agree with this. If my memory is correct the Navi lugs are longer and would fit quite a few men as well.

I like the Navi' 8, but I would really like to see an engraved bezel 1-12 for a basic GMT function, like the Tudor Heritage chrono', but being picky.
I've tried one on in my local AD and I find it quite understated from many other Breitling chrono's, so I like the fact that it it so.
Would definately consider chopping in my Chronospace for one.
