Still wish the real one had the twin registers at 3 and 9, and a 6 o'clock date as per my version

Just occurred to me that, tragically, as far as Heritage divers go, the B01 version of this configuration can now only be found on a Tudor... :(

Not sure how new this is but I see the newer versions of the 46mm Navis were added in the new watches category on the website. The Super 8s were also added.

I've spent too much time over the past few days looking at the blue SOH chrono with the B01 and I think I'm leaning towards getting one once I can see some actual live pics of it. I really like it on the blue rubber strap but would most likely try to get both options.

So they have. That Super 8 is one crazy watch.

The Navitimer 1 and Superocean collections get my thumbs up.

I see that the Chronomat GMTs are gone. Come to think of it, I don't think I'm seeing any models out there with the B04 movement...

They will be back at a later stage.

I'm just a little disappointed that we've not seen a twin register variant of the B01 yet (as far as I'm aware)

The twin register has been used on occasion with some Limited Edition Navitimers in both the 43mm and 46mm case.

They did it in transoceans too

Oh yeah, I forgot about them! I never would've overlooked that a few years ago - I guess it just shows how much I've lost my connection with Breitling recently.

But I'm still hopefully the new era might reignite the passion again. :lingsrock:

You're not wrong!

One thing that I still don't understand is how the blurb on the Breitling website still says that the B20 is an in-house movement when it isn't. "At the heart of this COSC-certified chronometer is the Manufacture Caliber B20, based on the Tudor Caliber MT5612". If it's based on something made by someone else then it's not a manufacture movement! Semantics I know, but it still rankles me.

sorry, but it is "manufacture", just not "in-house" for Breitling; Tudor similarly describes their version of the B01 as "manufacture" - as they are not mass market "industry standard" movements available to the whole industry like ETA, Sellita etc.

here some quick pics of the Super8 - the "50mm diameter" description is a bit misleading, it actually wears relatively small compared to the SA due to the very short lugs, the crown slips under a cuff nicely.

Sorry Fred, I respect your knowledge and your passion for the brand, but we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

I've personally never seen "Manufacture" used to mean anything other than an interchangeable term with "In-House". To me, Manufacture means, "We manufacture it", not, "It's manufactured by someone else, we buy it and then we change it a bit, but as the base movement is not quite as available to other watch companies as ETA movements are, then it's our manufacture".

Surely apart from the availability angle, what Breitling have done with the MT5612 is no different to modifying an ETA....

As I said, it's all semantics, but I've always gone with this definition (although there are many others that say the same thing) -

https://www.watch-wiki.net/index.php?ti ... e_movement

i.e. "A manufacture movement is a watch movement which is produced according to the production requirements of a manufacture. This means in short that the movement is a proprietary development and designed and produced in-house."

To me, the B20 is similar in provenance to the Omega 3133 - i.e. based on a non-mass-market movement, but not designed and built by Omega. Omega saw fit to call the 3133 an "Exclusive movement", which to my mind is considerably less obfuscating that calling it a manufacture movement. (Incidentally I don't agree with Tudor calling their version of the B01 a Manufacture movement either).
