Looks like Kern is showing us the newest version of the Superocean Heritage chrono in 44mm

Kern's Instagram Post

The 44mm size is nice but I actually like the bezel on the previous model better. I'm guessing the 46mm version still sticks around but the 46mm version has the in house movement while this has caliber 13 with the day and date feature. Based on some of the posts on instagram, it looks like this will be available in blue as well.

Wow -- what an utter disappointment! So, Kern's first "Heritage" release rids the SOH Chrono of its most iconic "heritage" feature -- namely, a version of the original 1957 bezel. Are you kidding me?

Let's see, take the SOH 44 Chrono, rid it of its iconic bezel, substitute a generic dive bezel, pop in the chronograph/day-date configuration from the Navitimer 8 series, and, voilà -- a watch that I wouldn't consider buying in a million years. Gone is the classic (and true to its heritage) configuration of two sub-dials, which offered a beautiful, clean look, with the date window situated at 6 o'clock. In its place are three subdials, and a complete mess at 3 o'clock -- indeed, a bit of "visual pollution", as Kern would put it. Really? A day/date is what this watch needed? Heck, if I were in the market for that, I'd get a Bremont Supermarine...

I was sad when, in the last few months, the SOH 44 Chrono disappeared from Breitling's website. My own SOH 44 Chrono is one of my absolute favorite pieces in my entire collection -- and, I have always thought that it was one of Breitling's best offerings, bar none. In particular, I have always loved the look of the bezel -- just a clean and unique appearance that distinguished it from other divers. Not anymore...

Ah, well -- glad I got while the gettin' was good...

Jim you said everything so nothing to add here except for the notion that the strap seems to have a winged buckle :D

It's funny that I stumbled upon this after I was on the Breitling site configuring some models of the current 46mm chrono version which I've been thinking about getting. I gave it a day to think about this new release and I'm actually a bit disappointed. I think Jim says it best so I don't need to repeat everything he said. It would be great to see the dial layout of the 125th anniversary model come back but even if that won't happen, at least leave the bezel alone. I was fortunate enough to see one of the new ceramic bezels in person at least once this year and it was gorgeous in blue.

I just read through all the comments on that instagram post and Kern does mention the SOH chrono will have the B01 movement so I wonder what color the contrasting subdials will be. He also mentions he'll post the A version soon, which I'm assuming is the standard automatic version.

I totally agree with Jim on this one. This release is a MASSIVE disappointment. :x

Personally I was hoping to see a new version of the SOHC 44 this year....... HOWEVER, I was hoping to see one that kept the 44mm diameter, kept the twin registers, but added the new ceramic bezel from the SOH (in the classic 1957-ish style), and had a twin-register variant of the B01 dropped inside.

Now THAT would've been the perfect SOHC IMO. Oh well, once again Breitling disappoints.....

Let us be a little bit positive. The new Superocean Heritage Chrono has less text on the dial, it has the day of the week, great size, and if you actually use the bezel - the numbers will be nice to have.

I can see being positive. We have to remember there should be a new SOH with the B01 released as well, I just hope that it contains the bezel it has now but that may be wishful thinking.

This is what I was hoping to see from a new SOHC44. (Product of less than 5 mins of Photoshop so forgive the rough edges!) -

This would be an immediate purchase for me.

Put a concave bezel on it, duplicate it in a smaller size as well as 44mm, and I'd be in.

I saw Breitling post that on their instagram feed a few weeks ago and was wondering if they were going to have re-issues that look like those. We do know the chrono version will have the B01 movement but I guess the big question is what the contrasting subdials will look like and what the bezel will be.

Totally agree with this, Driver. Your photoshop version is killer!

I agree with what others have said... This one is a step in the wrong direction. The symmetry of the old version is so much nicer in my opinion.

You know something’s off when the best re-edition of your vintage Breitling says Rado on the dial...
