I'm currently in search of my 18th birthday present, the favourite is looking to be the colt 44m automatic blue dial, price in AD and breitling boutique is £2700 and they seemed to be non-negotiable prices, although they did offer a free strap with the watch which is nice, some stores online like thewatchsource.co.uk have a considerable discount from this price (£2300) , would it be best to buy from AD ? or online stores such as thewatchsource, there must be some cons to purchasing at a non-AD, also what are the requirements to get onto the mailing list for the UK once purchasing a breitling? would i get on the mailing list when buying through a non-AD? would be nice to receive the gifts that they mail out like caps etc.

Buying from an AD is the safest way to go but discounts can be hard to negotiate on popular models. The warranty will also be rock solid. A free strap is not a bad offer, they don’t come cheap. Many non AD dealers get their stock from ADs, but they may be old stock, ex display etc. On line dealers have lower overheads but fewer facilities to offer a full after market service. Warranty should be ok if the warranty card & paperwork are supplied and all match up. The free swag from Breitling is rarely available in the UK and buying from a non AD mean less chance of receiving swag or being on any mailing list, if one even exists. Customer loyalty seems less important these days. If the watch is a gift then I think I’d go with the AD for the best experience. Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you're in UK, in which case definitely speak to Andrew Michaels (forum sponsor).

hi,

1) you're a (lucky!) spoilt teenager!

2) you will get 20% off (with no question asked, possibly more with some hard bargaining!) at any dealer in a UK airport, regardless of your destination...
flying from london to and back might cost you £30 these days! :o

note: i never said this... but i experienced it! ;-)
good luck,
pg
