Welcome to Breitling ! Crystal is Sapphire & hard to scratch, but is possible for instance if you brush up hard against rock. When I got my first one I found that not being used to the size I would knock against doorways & furniture. It took awhile to become conscious of the size. I could tell, at the end of the work day, I would find the bezel rotated.
As far as polishing scratches, you're going to get them. Eventually you get used to it. Remember every time you polish you'll round off the original edges.
The only way to prevent scratches is to not wear it ! It only took me a year to start trying to accept the inevitable
