Hello all,

As I recently bought a Montbrillant Datora I cannot get rid of the feeling that I bought a good replica watch.
In my search on the global net for more info I have been looking at a lot of different auctions/listings and have been paying attention to the watch serial numbers and their year of manufacture. The last is difficult to establish as the manufacturing date may differ from the selling date - ie how long is a watch sitting in the showroom before being sold.
Anyway, the info serial and date on the warranty card is a good guideline...
I owned a brandnew genuine 2006 montbrillant datora which I was forced to sell a couple of years ago. This watch was from 2006 and had a 7 digit serial number. That is my reference to start with.

Now I have seen watches being advertised with 6 digit numbers from 2002 but also seen them advertised from 2006 and onwards. Sure one can expect following normal logic that a 2006 watch and onwards should have a 7 digit serial number and any watch prior to 2006 to bear a 6 digit number? Is this not a clear sign that either they are either fakes or the seller does not have a clue from what year the watch is and makes and "educated" guess.

I am still waiting for the magnifying glass to read the date stamp on my current watch, I am not 100% sure of the year. The date is there alright but the case has been polished extensively which makes reading the numbers very difficult.

Are there some expert out there who can explain how Breitling is making up the serial numbers in case they deviate from the normal sequence?

Thanks in advance...

Can you post some high defnition pictures of your watch please? Then authenticity will be confirmed for you.

Well...I owned an genuine 2006 Montbrillant Datora I was forced to sell a couple of years ago. I still have some very good pictures from that watch, so I have a reference out of first hand. I did see the pictures you posted and cannot fail my current Datora, externally it looks very real.
But then I had a look on Google for replica's and my god, or these pictures on these site's are fake and from real Breitlings or these replica's are very good. They look exactly like a real Breitling...
Tomorrow I am going to visit a watchmaker specialised in Breitlings, I am sure he will have to open the watch the see its guts to be 100% sure.
The seller has agreed to take the watch back but charges a "cleaning and inspection" fee of 300€'s.
I will keep you posted on the verdict....

that , 99.99999999% of the time , why would a faker show pics of the stuff he's selling instead of pics of the real watch ?

Update...good and bad news!
Watch is genuine, that's the good news, the bad, its a bad maintained and worn out watch.
The watchmaker did a few test and the watch scored well below average scores.
When he opened the watch we could see that the bearing from the "counterweight" had so much play it left marks behind on the inside from the watch cover. Also no grease visible on the area's where it was needed and the oil, everywhere except there where needed.
Also clearly visible was the same serial on the movement as on the case and the handwritten date the watch had been opened (serviced?) inside the watch cover, Oct 2011. Oh and last but not least, date of manufacture..........3602, 2nd week of September 2002!
I bought the watch as a "2010" with paperwork, with a fresh serviced from 2017!
In reality I received a 2002 watch which had been "opened" in 2011 with no original paperwork, an attestation de chronometre which does not belong to my watch and a printout from a test showing some figures but no ID from which watch it came.
Also the figures on this "paper" already show that the watch scored below average, Amplitude for this type of movement should be at least 250 acc to the watchmaker.
I bought an 2010 in order to avoid buying a worn out and tired watch in need of an overhaul...what did I receive? A worn out and over-polished watch.
Have a look at some of the pictures, quality is not so good though.

So please note that Chronopark in the Rolfinckstrasse 13, 22391 Hamburg is to be avoided. He is also active on Chrono24!
Mr Oliver R knew very well what he was selling to me, the way he responded to my allegations shows that it is not the first time he's being confronted with this. He stays very calm and polite even when you give him some heat.
He has sold the watch with fake paperwork and false statements. He even included a fake buckle...

He was happy to take the watch back but I had to pay for a Check and a polish of the watch as I did worn the watch a couple of days...it would have cost me 300€! Total madness, but at the same time it shows how Chronopark does business. He will not check and polish the watch, no it would go straight back on the net and he would have earned an extra 300€ on it...

Anyway, I got away with a "blue" eye, at least I did not bought a fake watch which is the only positive thing in this whole history. The revision will cost me close to 500€. For this price I would have had a genuine "full set" from 2010!

Just to give an follow-up on the story.
I still have the Montbrillant Datora, its holding up very well after having spend 650€ for the rebuild.
The other day I noticed that the seller Chronoparc GMBH replied to my 1 star review on google - 1 star is the minimum I could give him. He came up with a story that I read the add on chrono.24 wrong and that I returned the watch after 10 months with water damage and that they "only" charged 300€ to take the damaged watch back as it was in poor cosmetic condition etc. That is total nonsense and a big lie. He never took the watch back as I refused to take a 300€ hit on a watch I barely worn.
Just looking at his review ratings on google, 119 5 star reviews, one 3 star review and one 1 star review which happens to be mine...that's suspicious. This whole story still get raises my blood pressure and this after 2.5 years.
