http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Rare-Breit ... SwAO9ZUTtW I am new to modern Breitlings and I am hoping for some feedback on this piece, particularly whether the price is reasonable (or is the seller is being "optimistic"?). And anything else that jumps out at you about it. Thanks in advance! |

Price may be a bit on the high side if it's not a complete set. |

Also, is the listing correct that this was only made for one year? I'm adding a couple photos from the auction in case the link ends. |

And anything else that jumps out at you about it. Thanks in advance! I think the description is wrong. That looks like a Superocean and not a Superocean Steelfish. There were a couple of versions of the Steelfish and - someone will correct me if I'm wrong - I don't think any of them had numerals on the dial. Here's a pic of mine, which is the 44mm X-plus version. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You are correct. The Superocean was polished and had a 5000ft wr. while the Steelfish Superocean is brushed and has a 6600ft wr. This along with a different face but I believe both were 44mm in their last configuration. The Steelfish was originally a 40-42mm I believe? The later version had an XL added to it that was later dropped. I also believe the Superocean does not have the relief valve that the Steelfish did but not sure. Both are beautiful watches but I went for the Steelfish and still have it. Frank. |

However, all of the transitional Steelfish I have found do have the same dial with the 12/6/9 configuration + brushed case. So I think its safe to say that my original ebay find is not a Steelfish as advertised. Any disagreements? |

Both of these watches are part of the Superoceas family but this model is called the Steelfish Superocean. Good luck, Frank. |

You've got a helluva camera, Frank. I can barely get my dials in focus at 1/3 that resolution! From what I can tell, the 2005 transitional 42mm SO Steelfish are 1500m/5000ft, while the SO Steelfish XL (and later versions) are 2000m/6600ft water resistance. But all Steelfish have the 6/9/12 dial configuration. Thanks for your help everyone! |

I think the larger, 44mm Steelfish (the one I have) is called the X-plus. Also note that later Steelfish models eschewed the syringe-like second hand in favour of a pointy arrowhead version which I think is inferior (but I would say that...). Which brings me to the question - Frank, what happened to your second hand??? Lol. (Edit - ps agreed, great picture!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've seen Breitling manuals for that dial Superocean that have them labeled as Superocean Steelfish. |
