Is it normal for an AD to ask you if you bought your watch from them when you take it in to them to have a spare link you already have, added to the bracelet? I produced the warranty card for my 6 month old watch to show them it was not grey market or anything, and they told me they would add the link for $20 since it was not purchased through them, but from another AD that is 1000 miles away. I have made a few purchases in the store in the past, but am not there enough for them to know me by name or anything.
I was always of the understanding that if you have an authentic watch bought from an AD, and can prove it, that most any AD would take care of you for things like strap changes, bracelet sizing, etc??
This is the only AD in my state, so I am kinda stuck with them. If I need to send the watch in to Breitling under warranty at some point, I wonder if I will be charged a fee by them as well..

Links aren't considered warranty items, not that unusual for an AD that didn't make the sale to charge.

$20 seems fair to me for that service.

I've paid to have a link removed before on a watch that was shipped to me. I think it was $20 which was fine since I saved a lot more buying from where I did.

I used to size my own bracelet and no longer wish to do so, but thank you for your valuable input.

I don't say this to be snide or sarcastic, but paying $20 to have someone unscrew a few 1.6mm screws is ridiculous. Years ago I had someone put scratches while sizing the bracelet on a new rather pricey watch. From that moment on, I said no more. Bought my own tools and those tools have paid themselves time and time again over the years. I derive much pleasure of being able to size my own bracelets as well as those of friends and colleagues.

Get a $8-$10 high quality Wiha German made 1.6mm flat head screwdriver and you should be able to handle any Breitling bracelet with ease. Breitling bracelets are very easy to work on.
