Here are pictures of two different 81600s. Clearly the sub-dial hands are longer on one. Does anyone know if this is due to the watch manufacture date, the correct fitting of later hands during servicing or the fitting of incorrect hands during servicing. Any advice would be appreciated.

the shorter ones are simply incorrect for the watch , as is the sliderule ring
possibly replaced by a non-breitling service center / watchmaker without access to correct parts

Fascinating. After looking at many photos of 81600s, I would have bet the long hands were either incorrect or later service hands. The first picture comes from a post on WatchProSite in 2013 outlining a restoration.

Old Navitimer advertisement from 1986 shows shorter sub-dial hands.
