So.... the new Colt Skyracer - https://www.breitling.com/en/news/detai ... racer-4733 Thoughts? From my perspective, when I saw the pictures I immediately thought, "Oh look yet another Blacksteel/DLC piece", but I was then quite pleasantly surprised to see it's actually the second Breitlight model to be produced. Well done Breitling! There's a fair bit to like about it IMO. It's a fairly reasonable size at 45mm (compared to the Hurricane), and being black it'll likely wear a little smaller than the size suggests. I like the bezel (especially the no-Buck font!) and the handset, and the colour-scheme is very functional and inoffensive. Two downers on it from me though - firstly, the movement : it's quartz and not mechanical and not in-house, but then that's kind of my "thing", and secondly I just think it looks....well..... a bit "cheap" somehow. I can't really put my finger on it, but it kind of reminds me of a Marathon or something. Maybe it'll look less cheap in the flesh..... |

I don't dislike it, just find the look a little 'ordinary' - nothing to make it stand out. Breitlight is a positive sign, "price upon request" clearly isn't. I'm most concerned about the statement about it being the "new-generation" Breitling. If that means we should expect a whole lot more non in house quartz pieces at Basel that's a bad sign. If it means we can see a whole lot more Breitlight cases it's a better sign (but would love to see some non black Breitlight as the black things has been done to death with the DLC spewing of the last decade). |

I think it looks alright, not knowing the price makes it hard to say if I would consider it. Does anyone have any experience with Breitlight? I'm curious to find out how durable it is and if it has a plastic feel to it. |

Size is too large at 45mm for me, look is just OK. Don't imagine I would like the price, wouldn't mind a great looking quartz piece though. |

I like that they are doing more with Breitlight, at least that is something different from a material perspective. Look is fine, don't love it or hate it. Even at the undisclosed price, because I don't love the look it wouldn't be for me. Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk |

What actually is Breitlight? I mean, a metal alloy, plastic? How is it manufactured and shaped? And is the material the reason why both models are only WR to 100m? |

I read the below, but I am still pretty curious about the actual material and daily wearing. It's a polymer filled with composite fibres supposedly highly resistant to scratching, traction and corrosion. Good for it's anti-magnetism, thermal stability and anti allergenic properties. It has a warmer feel than metal and has perfect dimensional stability.......so the 2017 chronolog states. Plastic I guess. |

It almost seems like it has properties similar to ceramic in terms of wear (not construction). I'm wondering if it shatters or breaks easily... |

The only real problem I had with the Hurricane was the size - 50mm is way too big for me. If Breitling make an Avenger-style model, no bigger than 44mm, with an in-house mechanical movement, then I'd be sorely tempted. |

Seeing more of this material, H2O just announced a carbon Kalmar II. |
