Hello this is my first post over here at Breitling source. I am looking at a watch but I cannot find any information online. Some people believe it is a limited edition but I was wondering what you guys thought. It is from an authorized dealer but I cannot find anything about this particular watch from Breitling's website. I'm kind of a detail oriented guy and I like to read up on stuff first.   Thanks for any help. This would be my first Breitling so I'm kind of excited! |

Well that's a Super Avenger II in blacksteel, but I must confess I'm not sure if I've seen that particular version before..... but then Breitling make a ton of Limited Editions so it's pretty hard to keep on top of them all! It's certainly likely to be an LE and if so there'll be a Limited Edition number on the caseback, but as I say, Breitling make so many it doesn't mean it'll necessarily be any more collectible. In terms of spec, well it be exactly the same size as a standard SAII - 48mm across and almost 18mm thick. In case you didn't know, "Blacksteel" is Breitling's term for DLC, so it's a surface coating. Inside you'll find a B13 which is Breitling's standard workhorse movement based on the ETA 7750. About all I can say about it really. All other specs will be same as those available for the standard SA II on the Breitling website. |

Great information. Thanks for responding. I currently only own stainless steel. What is your perception of the black steel? Does it chip and scratch easily. I'm not a perfectionist but I don't think I'd love a chipped up watch. |

I'll chip in, since I don't think Driver8 has any DLC! I currently own some DLC watches, one of which has had a few knocks and dings and the coating does get damaged but not as easily as a PVD coated watch would be damaged. My Blackbird is getting on for 7 years old : still looks OK but on close inspection there are a couple of scratches. If it was stainless it would be easily repolished. It also depends how often you wear the watch and how careful you are with it. Wearing a big watch like the SA every day, it will get knocked and scraped. Even more so if you climb in and out of a swimming pool or do manual work. |

I have owned one DLC watch in the past, and I actually managed to chip the DLC buckle by attempting to change the strap about 2 hours after buying it. Thanks for these friendly responses. I do take care of my watches and am lucky enough to have a variety to wear (again, lucky and blessed). I wish these decisions were easier. I am waxing and waning on this Breitling.....it looks so cool though. |

I did end up buying the watch. It my first Breitling and it's incredible. This thing is truly a beast but I think my wrist allows me to pull off the 48mm case. Thanks for all of the responses and advice. Have a nice Holiday to all.....
