Hi, I’m sure you’ve been asked this sort of question a 1000 times but here goes anyway! I turn 60 in the new year so my wife has decided I need a treat. As a result I’m looking at two Breitling watches. I’ve no experience of the brand although I’ve been aware of the quality reputation for many years. I’m well aware that the look of the watch is one of the main factors in deciding on a purchase but I really like both of these........

Breitling Superocean Heritage 42 Automatic A1732116.G717.154A

Breitling Superocean Heritage 42 Caliber 17 Automatic A1732116.G717.154A in a 42mm Polished Stainless Steel case. With a Stratus Silver dial and a includes a Breitling international warranty and all box and papers.
£2,670.00
Any comments regarding the price (watch is new old stock I believe), known issues, servicing frequency and cost, price appreciation would be gratefully received.

Breitling Navitimer A3303011U

Breitling Navitimer A3303011U with a 37.00mm Stainless Steel case and a Leather strap. This watch features an Automatic movement and a Black and White dial.

* Condition: 10/10
* Paperwork: Breitling original papers
* Scratches: None
* Bracelet size: Full size, 18cm
* Box: Original box in perfect condition
* Refurbished: In-depth clean and very gentle polish. Watches shape and sharp edges maintained
£3,500.00
Any comments regarding the price (watch is second hand), known issues, servicing frequency and cost, price appreciation would be gratefully received.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to BreitlingSource. Very different watches there. I don't do pricing advice, the FAQs suggest checking completed sales on eBay and dealer asking prices on Chrono24. The Navitimer Airborne is a gorgeous piece in my opinion and because it's getting on for 20 years' old there won't be much more depreciation on price assuming you can get it for a fair price. You cannot assume any appreciation in value and new pieces like the Heritage will drop significantly in value over the first 3 years or so.

Servicing on both will be every 5 - 7 years, check the history on the Airborne and factor a service into the cost if it doesn't have any service history. UK members can give you an idea of current service costs and it is also available on the Breitling website.

Hi,
I am partial to the navitimer, but would go for a more contemporary model. My personal preference is hat 37mm is rather small.
