Dear all

Most odd conversation, (perhaps not that odd) with an AD local to me re: Full service of my B01. I was aware of the charge levied by the service centre as it is splashed over their website. But today I was quoted a similar price then add postage and unusually (IMHO) £60 for the price of replacement hands which obviously need to be removed for the watch to be serviced?

Is that the norm?

My watch is now only getting 15 hours of reserve time rather than the 70 hours of stated reserve time, so maybe it's time for full service after 6 years of ownership.

Plus...

Is there are any additional requests that I should ask of the service centre that would be advantageous in the long run, I'd be grateful of any hints and tips.

Seyley

Hands are press fit and designed for single use so not unusual for them to be quoted. However, approach to whether included or excluded in service fees seems to be utterly random. Many ADs charge for shipping to the service centre which is wrong in my opinion, may end up cheaper to send to Tunbridge Wells yourself. Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Thanks for the response. The Tunbridge Wells Service centre is only 10 miles away, so as long as their reception takes it in over the counter then perhaps that is what I will do...

I've also heard that they aren't issuing reports on what work has being carried out, surely this can't be true?
Can anyone confirm that tis is the case.

My CSO recently had a full overhaul. The initial assessment of the work required was sent to me via the AD. Hands were included in the price of the overhaul. When the watch was returned I had to ask the AD for the inventory of work carried out. They seemed reluctant to do this but when they handed it over the schedule reflected the original assessment. Postage was not charged. It would be strange if Breitling didn't supply a breakdown of the work undertaken so I'd expect this as a matter of course. My AD is a Goldsmiths branch by the way.

My Navitimer Fighters in in for a full service at the minute. I'm hoping that I get a breakdown of what work has been carried out.

I've also put mine in the Goldsmiths so I'll drop them an email now.

Okay, here's the lowdown....!!!

I rang the Tunbridge Wells Service centre and this what they have confirmed:

1) I can hand my watch in for a full service at an arranged appointment time (security reasons).
2) It is taking them 7 days to carry out an assessment of the work done, helpful if the customers add a note of the issues that they have noticed, such as my 15 hours of reserve time rather than 70.
3) Customer will be informed of the price after that seven day assessment.
4) At the present time (28th September 2016) it is taking them 8 weeks to complete a full service on a B01.
5) NO, they don't charge £60.00 for the removal of the watch hands as stated by the dealer.
6) NO, they don't charge for the postage/courier (another add-on by the dealer I suspect).
7) YES, they do provide an itemised listed of work done, for ALL watches received, but she emphasised this isn't a report like an appraisal report. She had heard that some dealers are not handing these over, but stated that you must insist before you depart with your watch.
8) There was no mention of a October 1st price hike as mentioned by my local dealer
9) Payment for the service is paid after work is completed and upon the pick up of the watch.

Mmmm, I wonder if I will be using that dealer again for any future purchases, me thinks NOT!!!!

If I haven't covered everything that you wanted answered then give Breitling Service Centre a call to get clarification. The number is on their website,
