I'm hoping to get the service done on my B01 shortly, when my baby is back on my wrist looking all pristine, I know that as I wear it and working in a desk job, that the cover of the clasp will again be in contact with various desk services. This is where I get myself in trouble with the Forum members and the moderators for being such a Sissy boi, but let me ask the question that many other members have thought of but were too afraid to come from behind the sofa and ask: Is there a protective cover available that can be attached to the clasp cover to protect it? Yes I know, I could hide the watch in the dark behind a bricked off wall and simply not wear it. Put cotton wool on every surface that the watch may come into contact with... Change the metal strap for a leather one during the working day then back on again for the train ride home. Wear a Rolex during the working day and treat it like it deserves....(a bit like carrying a Lidl bag whilst shopping around Waitrose) -for Americans to get the analogy, see the following, (Carrying a Super Dollar bag around Publix)! Just asking, (now I will go back behind the sofa after the brazen display of shamefulness). |

Just a thought (and like you, I have thought about this before as well). What about getting a velcro "wire wrap" to put around the buckle? Something wide enough to protect it. |

Or even cape cod cloths   Wear it and enjoy it, it will come back looking like new after the service anyway. You didn't buy the watch, you bought the way the watch makes you feel so no point in nurse maiding it, that's just detracting from the enjoyment. |

I usually don't bother about scratches on the clasp but I normally wear watch on my left hand so it doesn't come so often in contact with the table. But, I broke my left hand a month ago and was forced to wear in on the right arm. It was in contact with a table all the time so I have put a mouse pad beneath it (I sit behind the computer monitor practically the whole day). It helped

I used to get really annoyed by marks on my pilots bracelet when I first got my Chronomat, but after a decade I care less and less. When I look at it now it still shines mightily, I don't even notice the minor scratches. These bracelets really wear well, even though your watch is coming back with a fresh buff there still are going to be little dings showing up again very quickly. I don't even notice them anymore. |

I have heard of some people using a piece of Sellotape on the clasp to prevent scratches, but I'm firmly in the "just wear it and enjoy it" camp. That said, I am careful with my watches to the point that certain things have become second nature with me - like generally keeping my watch under my cuff when I'm working at my desk. It's not something I consciously think about anymore, but it certainly helps to keep scratches to a minimum. But when scratches do happen on the clasp (as they inevitably do) I just live with them for a while and then periodically break out the good ol' Cape Cods or Scotchbrites depending on the finish. Problem solved. A long time ago at the start of my "watch-journey", I had a highly polished Chronomat that I rarely wore for fear of scratching it, but I can safely say it's best to snap out of that mind-set and use them how they were designed to be used. And even if scratches or dings are beyond Cape Cod's ability to remove, you'll be amazed at what Breitling can do at service time. My ethos ever since my early days has been "use but don't abuse", and as a result I've had far more enjoyment out of ownership than I ever could've from wrapping my watches in cotton wool. |
