Hi Guys -

Great forum here, lots of good information.

I purchased a 'display model' Breitling Blackbird a few weeks ago from a grey market dealer and noticed pretty quickly that the second hand doesnt seem to sweep correctly. I ignored it hoping it just needed to work in, but now its been a few weeks....So i've done some research on skipping second hands and it seems that it could be a plethora of things. Attached is a video to what i believe is a skip in the second hand

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHXVxY6qmbY

so a few questions.

1. I purchased through a greymarket dealer (chronostore), it came with a 3 year warranty through them, but i'm not too keen on having them repair, should i suck it up and send to breitling? what do you think cost is there?

2. Should i just 'deal' with it, watch seems to be keeping good time. The second hand is off by around -6 a day (i know, not within COSC standard); but the hour/minute hasnt had any noticeable difference.

3. Any other advice? could this just be a lubrication issue?

Thanks all,
Naz

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

It's not going to fix itself and there is something in the running train causing excessive inertia. Additionally, if the watch has settled as you imply by saying it's been a few weeks then it is outside of COSC which may be caused by the same issue. I think it needs a Breitling service before it gets worse, likely teh cost of a basic service. I wouldn't trust the grey market place to go anywhere near it.

Thank you for the quick reply. I've sent my Tag Heuer out through a nearby AD before, do you recommend heading to the AD near me for breitling and letting them ship it out?

Doesn't matter from a logistics standpoint, just make sure they don't charge you for the privilege.

Thank you, just put a request into breitling and they are sending a box.
