Post subject: | How many watches is enough? |
Hello All, I am curious to know how many watches is enough to own? I have set the bar at 4 mechanical/auto watches...... Currently I have 3 and am looking hard at the 4th piece to complete the collection...... A friend of mine who is a watch collector said something very wise to me.... "it is better to have 1 excellent watch - instead of 15 mediocre watches...." Personally I am content at 3 or 4. Kind regards, |

i always thought one for each type of occassion 1x quality beater (e.g. Tag quartz) 1x dress watch (e.g Navitimer, IWC porteguese) 1x bling/OTT gangster watch (solid gold rolex, SA with diamonds etc.) 1x concept watch to show how much of an aficionado you are (e.g. Richard mille, Cvstos, Blu) 1x action/adventure watch (e.g. Breitling emergency, Aninomo) |

At this point, I think 3. One everyday watch - Skyland One beater/gym watch - G-Shock One dress watch - ? Dont have one yet. Maybe never will as I dont usually get too dressed up. Even if I do, I wear the Skyland. |

Archie has a valid question, nothing in this post deserved that kind of response in my opinion. On a lighter note, I have about 10 watches currently, and I'm quite satisfied with that... I like to change them up occasionally though. I haven't done that too much recently. |

I have about 50 but I'm planning to thin the herd (drastically - down to about 10)... |

I'm personally not sure what my limit would be. I currently have 6, but have my eye on at least 2 others (maybe 3), although I am planning to sell my Steelfish. As I enjoy wearing all my watches, I think I'd have to stop if I wasn't wearing them all at least once a month. So that's 30 then! ![]() ![]() But in practical terms (like for example the cost buying them!) I think 12 might be a nice figure. |

Hello to the forum. I am a new member of the forum but a very old Breitling fan. My very first Breitling is the SuperAvenger which I bought from Sydney Australia, although i reside permanently in Greece. As far as the question "How many watches are enough" i guess that there is no real answer. It all depends on how much money you got or how much you are willing to spend. My next Breitling is definitely going to be the Naqvitimer World. I am a big fan of watches in general but if i was to buy every watch that i had my eye on, I would be either broke, or divorced or both. For example I really liked a Panerai Luminor Marina but I wouldn't pay 4,500€ for a Panerai (only for a Breitling I would pay this much ![]() |
