Hi guys, 3 weeks ago I purchased my very first Breitling. I bought an Avenger II GMT from a local AD. It's my first "luxury" and automatic watch for that matter. I've been wearing it at least 5-6 days out of the week but once or twice a week I will pick it up to put it on in the morning and notice about an hour to an hour and a half of time loss. 2 days ago I went to put it on in the morning and it had actually stopped so I had to wind it and I had previously wore it everyday. This certainly isn't acceptable within the COSC standards but I've been poking around on this forum and read that a new watch takes several weeks to break-in? Is it possible that I don't move my wrist enough throughout the day to keep it going? I type at the keyboard all day, swing my arms when I walk, drive a manual transmission. I also read somewhere that you should wind the watch regardless of it being automatic? I haven't banged the watch on anything, been around anything with high magnetic fields or taken it into the water yet. If it is a "lemon" I may have to take it back to the AD for warranty service or something. Any info/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! ![]() |

It's not breaking in if it's losing hours. Likelihood is simply that it stopped because of a low power reserve. If there are a couple of days a week when you aren't wearing it and you aren't storing it on a winder or manually winding it when not worn then the power reserve will run down - just give it 20 winds a day on days not worn and it should be fine. |

Thanks for the info! I do not use a self winder. However, the days that I wake up to see that it has lost time, I had worn it the previous day. So I'm not sure if my wrist is not getting enough motion? |

Not necessarily the case. If you don't wear it Is day and then do wear it Monday it may still stop overnight Monday into Tuesday because it was low to start with. In other words from the time you took if off Saturday night u til you went to put it on Tuesday morning there will have been close to 60 hours with only around 12 hours of wear to support it. |

That makes sense. Thanks Roff. I will start off with a full-wind and see in the following days to see if I get any time loss. Thanks again! Appreciate it . |
