My Blackbird is now 8 months old, and i'd like to get it regulated (currently running + 6-7 secs per day).

I bought it from Goldsmiths, and I just know if I go back to the shop and ask about getting it regulated, they are going to say it has to be sent back to Breitling UK (and probably try to sell me a service at the same time !)

I've read that its a 10 - 20 minute job, which can be done by an authorised service centre, and details are available on the Breitling website.

Here's my problem. I've searched the website, but can only find authorised dealer details. Nothing about service centre's.

can anyone provide a link ?

Or even better, give details of an authorised service centre in the Bristol / Bath area ?

Thanks in advance.

It seems like they've changed the website because they always used to list Regional Service / repairer-AD's as well as retailers..... but now they only list retailers. Not sure if they've done away with the regional repairer aspect or not. However just as a heads-up anyway - I went to my nearest repairer-AD for a regulation and was told that (yep, you guessed it) it would need to go back to Breitling UK.

Got mine regulated at a local Rolex place instead. :?

Hi Driver8

Thanks for the quick response.

As I mentioned, I'm very reluctant to go back to Goldsmiths. I'd rather take the Blackbird to someone who knows what they are talking about, rather than just "making a sale". My previous experience with this chain is that the aftersales service is appalling (they only read / quote from their price list).

It's interesting you say a Rolex service centre can do this.

Will it invalidate the warranty ? I guess the watch will need to be pressure tested after being regulated ?

Hello,
Any good watchmaker should be able to do on the spot.

I recently got my Navi regulated with amazing results......

No need to go to a AD for such a simple procedure.....

I'd noticed that.

I had already saved the information relative to where I live - Glasgow - before they took the details off the site.

Where I am it is/was: Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland.

The only thing to note is that when I was chatting to BUK about services they mentioned that the local centres could do just about anything apart from a service on a B-2 (think it was a B-2 anyway).

Maybe a call to BUK for the details of your local service centre is worth a shot. Or try Mappin & Webb in Bristol.

@ Blackbird2008 - yes it does need to be pressure tested once it's resealed, but most high-end watch-repairers will have the equipment to do it. The Rolex place I went to certainly did, and the whole thing was turned around within 24 hours.

At the Breitling AD I went to I think I possibly got one of those sales assistants who know very little, but pretend to know everything!

Gents,

Thank you for the advice.

I'll give Mappin & Webb a call. Failing that, I'll see if I can book it in for a "same day" turnaround next time I'm in Tunbridge Wells.

Thanks again.

Hi There,
My blackbird has just been regulated via Goldsmiths in Durham City.
I bought it June this year and was gaining 8-12 seconds per day.
They sent it off to B.uk and was returned one week later in a complimentary travel case. The whole deal cost me nothing and the bird is running plus 1 to minus 1 per day. If you are prepaired to wait it is worth it and you know it will be right.

Hi Alan

Thanks for your advice.

I called B UK this morning, and spoke to customer services in Tunbridge Wells, hoping they would give me details of my local authorised service centre.

The (very, very helpful) lady explained that as the watch is still within warranty, the work would have to be done by B UK, so the warranty would not be invalidated. She did quote a 10 day turn around, due to the fact that they like to fully test the watch after regulating. This is probably a worst case scenario, just to cover themselves during busy periods.

It sounds a bit daft, but I dont like the thought of being without the watch for 1 - 2 weeks .... but then if there's a chance I might get a freebie travel case ... !!!

I think I'll be making a trip to Goldsmiths after all !

You think I have not thought of that ? !!!! :D

I wouldnt be able to justify it though.

I was in dubai in august, and an Airwolf caught my eye at the airport Duty free store at a very attractive price (i think it was about 35% off UK retail).

Very tempting ...

Until my wife gave me "the look" ....

I wish AD's did courtesy watches, like car dealerships offer courtesy cars !!!

What the hell were you doing, making eye contact with your significant other in an AD?

Come on - promise me you'll buck up!

But - in the real world, I know where you're coming from - I didn't get another 'Ling 'till it was too late and had to wear my Festina for a month last year!
