Scenario and am I understanding this COSC correctly? If I start my Breitling Colt 2 watch at zero seconds match to UTC clock time.. Then every day my watch gains 2 seconds, then the next day gains another 2 seconds on top of the original 2 seconds. Then Third day another 2 seconds on top of the 4 seconds that was already ahead. This pattern continues, technically my watch is under COSC standards? I used 2 seconds just as an example. Based on my math in 30 days my watch would gain a minute at the pace of 2 + seconds per day. Am just trying to understand this -4/+6 thingy ... That means what a watch can lose and gain per day on top what it gained or lost the day before, and still be COSC? Thanks advance for the time to clearing this up for me.

You are correct that the -4/+6 is per day so your watch could gain as much as 3 minutes a month (30 days * 6 seconds).

That's correct. Although my watches barely are +1 per day

Excellent question! I had often wondered that myself.

I haven't ever really worried how accurate my watches are since I rotate them and usually have to reset them every time but this is excellent to note.

I think I'll give it a shot later this week to estimate just how close to COSC my etches are.

Thanks!

Really appreciate the clarification on the -4/+6... When I first read about it and bought my Breitling I was under the impression that -4/+6 was how many seconds it would be off for the year. But now I understand it's per day...I figure if being off by a few seconds really bothers me I can always reset it back to 0 seconds when I have to adjust the date every few months.

Part of the joy of wearing mechanical watches is the opportunity to nurture and care for them by periodically adjusting the time to match other more accurate movements. In my case, I usually will grab an automatic out of my watch cabinet and compare the time and set it to my Sinn UX. Nice explanation of the Cosc variance.
