Regarding the new Chronoworks technology - as I understand it this is a limited edition and a test for future technologys there some of it will turn up in "standard" watches. This is from the website. So -- when do you think we have a Navitimer with this Chronoworks technology? Next years Basel...? |

I guess the simple answer is probably, god knows. Personally I think that now they've done the R&D, the Chronoworks version should become a standard variant for the B01 : perhaps a B01A for example. Like I said on the Basel News thread, the upgrades they've made really move the B01 into a different league, so I say industrialise the manufacture of the new parts, and roll it out into a range of SENSIBLY PRICED production pieces. Or perhaps have it as an option on the Breitling configurator to allow people to specify it at point of sale.... Like I've said from day one when the B01 appeared, I truly love the fact that Breitling are producing their own movements again, but in all honesty the B01 isn't overly ground-breaking in it's standard form - certainly not when you compare to what some other manufacturers have produced in recent years. BUT the Chronoworks version really does propel the movement into a new league, so I say, roll it out. Sure it will cost a little more, but I'd love to see it as an option. |

Adding new materials, eliminating need for periodical lubrication, etc, etc are commendable steps in maintaining the mechanical watch well and alive here in the 21st century. But the old Swiss lever escapement has limitations. Gravity and temperature are not friendly to mechanical movements. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
