Post subject:  Breitling Bentley Series - 6.75

Hi, I bought Breitling Bentley Series - 6.75 from my fried who is a jeweler,
Everything looks fine, except for a couple things:
I don’t get 42 hours power reserve, (the most I can get is around 18 hours)
And it looses a couple minutes overnight.
What could be a problem, does this watch need service? I am pretty sure it is not fake, because he sold a quite few of high end watches.
Any help, advice would be highly appreciated; I included pictures of my watch.
Thank you very much,
George.

Looks fake to me. The Bright red big date.. real one is black on this model I believe. Also the bracelet shows the exposed stamping on the backside.. real Breitlings don't have the stamp showing through the back, and also the date code on that speed bracelet is from 1997, which is before this bracelet was even made so the bracelet is definately fake.

I hope your friend wasn't ripping you off. The good fake bentleys actually have signed rotors too, but the rest of the movement is not jeweled with the circular graining like a real one is so do not be fooled just because the rotor is signed.

One quick way to tell if it's genuine;

Turn the bezel, does the crystal turn with it?

If the crystal turns with the bezel, it's fake.

Ah.. the fake ones don't have a real geartrain thingy in there that turns the sliderule? Are there any fakes that do do you know?

Not that I know of. The reps are getting very good, but manufacturing this gear system we speak of would just add to the cost. So it's a safe bet for now that if the crystal stays still as you turn the bezel, it will be genuine. All of the replica Bentley I have seen come with the crystal attached to the bezel, thus turning as you turn the bezel.

Thank you guys for your response. I went to my fried and told him that is fake, explained why. He gave me my money back. He did not know that it was fake.

Yeah! What they said :)

Just out of curiosity, how much did he charge you for it?

Gotta admit though if the font was in black, that is a pretty good replica. Then again how big is the case? It looks like the case is smaller than the authentic 6.75.

Guy's,

Also on this fake the "For Bentley" is beneath the center where the hour, minute and second hands attach. On my Bentley the "For Bentley" is above the center post that the hands are attached to.

Hey Admin, When you say "exposed stamping" are you referring to the wings logo on the underside of the secondary part of the clasp?

Yah.. that's what I meant by exposed stamping.. didn't know how else to describe it :D

Ok. That's what I thought you meant. I was wondering if by "stamping" you meant the way the metal was bent or shaped. I have seen some very bad replicas, mostly Rolex, that have a strange set of "tangs" that attach the bracelet to the case that are made of stamped steel. The bracelet here seems to mount nearly the same as my ling. Had to look closer to see the stamping you were pointing out. Good eye!!
