Does anyone know how to get the rubber bezel on the SO42 back to being matt. Its my beater and gets a daily hammering. The rubber has gone shiny with wear. I know the purists on here hate the rubber, the lack of lume dot and the font. But it does it for me ![]() |

Matte probably won't come back. |

Fiberglass pen for titanium watch scratch removal will scuff the rubber a bit, & is right size not to scuff polished metal edge. |

I own a superocean, every time mine gets shiney from wear I simply rinse it with water. Rub it a bit. Then wipe it dry with a terry cloth towel. It usually comes back to matte. I've also been surprised with the durability of the rubber. I've hit it quite a few times and it doesn't show much wear. |

I would probably try washing the watch with normal hand soap and water, using a very soft toothbrush (or similar). I don't own any watches with rubber components, but I would assume the shininess is just down to a build up of oils from your fingers and the environment over time, so the surfactant properties should clean the oils and therefore restore some of the matt finish. (Maybe!) |

Yes, soap and water with toothbrush is what I use too. I also suspect the shininess is on top of the rubber (and not the rubber itself being shiny). And +1 for the durability. ![]() Gesendet von meinem SM-G920F mit Tapatalk |

(Maybe!) My thoughts exactly. At least in my case anyways. |

I just wear mine in the shower once in a while and it comes out looking like new. |

Buy a cheap rubber strap and try different ideas out. Let us know. Don't experiment on your bezel. |

Thanks for the tips, i wash it at least once a week with toothbrush and a bit of liquid soap.. will try the titanium pen idea,as is not surface oil. Otherwise, also think the rubber bezel is underestimated....not a mark on it after a couple of years heavy use, apart from it being a bit shiney ![]() |

All my rubber straps have become a bit shiny with wear over time. By all means try what other have suggested, but in my experience (I've tried the soap and old toothbrush thing on my straps) it's just what happens to rubber. |
