Hello fellow watch lovers. Doc here from sunny South Africa.
Please could I have some expert opinions?

This is my Super Avenger 48mm.
I have always loved the wrist presence and solidness. And the polished steel look as well.
Been wearing one occasionally for about 2 years now.
Am starting to wonder whether I look like a clown?? I am 1.77m tall which i think is about 5 foot 8...i weigh about 98kg, but have a relatively thin wrist at a fraction under 19cm or 7.5inches.

I took it off the steel as it was suggested it would wear smaller. So before ordering breitling calf and rubber, i did a cheap trial with a hirsch strap.

Looking at the photos, pls provide honest opinions. I am also lost as to what i can replace it with.

Thanks in advance.
Doc.

The stock answer is that if the lugs overhang the wrist it's "too big" (see below...). Closeups always exaggerate the size of the watch, but the last shot esp does make it look as if the lugs overhang.

But the immediate qualification is that there are no rules, so the answer is entirely subjective. If it feels too big, and you think it's too big, it's too big. If it feels right on the wrist, and you look down and think it's cool, then it's not too big. Some people like discreet, flatter old-style 30-something-mm watches; other people like a hefty presence. I think I would feel that that was a bit too big for me personally. But you say you've been wearing it for two years and loved it when wearing it, so that sounds like an answer: you love it, the end!

The last pic does make it look a little big, but our opinions really don't matter as long as your comfortable with it.

In my opinion it looks impressive and, yes, big. But too big? No I don't think so. If it feels comfortable then it's right for you.

The wrist circumference is misleading as the cross-section can be round or oval or flat.

Like others have already said, the lug to lug vs wrist width is the "visual" factor but at the end, it's all up to you and what you like.

Not sure if the bracelet vs strap makes that big difference and below is shown my Ti Avenger with bracelet and with Diver Pro strap...

If you like the Avenger series and end up feeling Super Avenger is a bit too large then check the slightly smaller Avenger

Pretty much what Tom has said, it's down to personal taste!

I'm 6' 1" and 17 stone with a Wrist size that's over 7 1/2" and when I tried a super avenger on, I thought it looked stupid on me, the smaller Avenger 11 looked and felt so much better!

In the end I bought a Chronomat 44 that I felt wore similar to the Avenger 11, so for me 44mm is the limit of my sweet spot, 42mm to 44mm works for me!

I think it's too big on you, sorry. However, that's me and it's such a personal choice. I've worn the "bigger" watches but in the end, I always felt/knew they were too large on my 7" wrist...

My B50 looks big on my wrist in pictures. But not when I actually look at it if that makes sense?

I downsized from a Super Avenger to an Avenger, and then to an Avenger II.

I think once you get it in your head that it might be too big, then it's always going to play on your mind.

Try on the Avenger II, I think you'll be happy with the size of that.

Also, you may find that the SA wears smaller on Breitling OEM straps due to the tapering.

You know I went through the same thing. I had a SA white dial with batons and the watch started to look ridiculous on me from my own perspective. Ultimately I had to let it go.

My personal opinion is that it indeed looks a bit too big, I'm sorry. However, what really matters is what you think, if you like it and think it looks ok, there's your answer.

All have a similar generic answer...

For example, SOH42 has one visual appeal & your SA with its thickness has a different visual appeal. Like your clothing collection, various shorts and trousers fit your fixed waist size but all have their own unique look, some baggy, some on a slim look, some with a formal fall, etc.,

If you naturally look happy with your watch, it'll automatically look good on you. It's a great watch and looking good,...,enjoy every minute that your wear it. That's my honest opinion.

Looks good IMO. I would wear it with pride.

A regular Super Avenger II? :lingsrock:

Like many have already said in this thread -- you are the only person who can truly decide whether or not you are comfortable with your SA. If you aren't wearing it because it just doesn't feel at home on your wrist -- then, there's your answer.
