Hello. I am new to this forum and also new to breitlings. I am interested in purchasing a used Navitimer from a seller who is the first owner and the watch is from 2004. The watch seems to be in mint condition ( including the dial ). He is asking for $3300 which i think is a fair price since the watch has recently been serviced and it comes with full kit. My concerns are


1. Since the watch is 12 years wold, will the dial start showing age soon?

2. How long will it be before the dial starts aging ( from your epxerience)

3. This is a limited edition dial ,hence replacing a dial during service might be an issue.

4. Also, how long with the ETA movement last?

2. Modern dials, likely another 50+ years, no tritium to age, better cleaning materials for servicing, etc.

3. Maybe, kinda hard to speculate

4. With regular servicing another 1,000 years give or take a couple of hundred!

Thanks for the response! Really Appreciate your feedback. Talking about service, how often will this ETA or Valjoux Chronographs movements , need full service? Given the fact that its not an in-house movement, can this be serviced by an experienced watchmaker? Will he or she have access to parts as well?

Service window is driven by the breakdown of the oils and will be every 5 - 7 years. Breitling modifies their ETA / Valjoux movements and does not supply parts to unauthorised watchmakers. If you don't use factory service you will have paid a huge premium for a modified movement that you have then made the same generic version used in a $200 watch, severely eroding the value of the watch in the process.
