Yes, it's one of those threads, where I ask everybody what they would do if they were in my position, even though they're not me, and even though I'm likely to get completely disparate answers that leave me no closer to a decision than I was before I asked. (That said, I'm sure I'll end up following someone's advice, since all options are likely to be advocated.) Regardless, I'm curious what people's positions are on the models in play. I have an Aerospace, 2009 vintage (plain black dial, stick markers). I like its fit, looks, function and comfort, but it doesn't quite sing to me in the way that gets the WIS juices flowing. I recently acquired a Galactic 44 blue dial, which is my first Windrider style Breitling in quite a while. I'd forgotten how much I like the solidity, finish and detailing of Breitling's more upscale lines, and I'm tempted to get a Chronomat with a black dial (either Flying Fish or Airborne) to complement the blue Galactic, but would likely trade in the Aerospace to help fund it. So, what would you do? Keep the Aerospace, or trade up to a Chronomat? Apples and oranges, I know. Still, if you were to choose, which would it be? |

If it doesn't sing to you anymore, move it for something else. |

The Airborne would be my choice, but you need to follow your heart. You, after all is said and done, are the one that needs to live with your decision. Let us know what you do, Frank. |

Totally different beasts in terms of movement, weight, aesthetics. I own an aerospace and love it but no question for me: airborne every time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd go Airborne as well, especially if your other watch doesn't sing to you anymore. No brainer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Style wise Airborne is the way to go but contrasting dial makes reading the time quite an issue for some - including me. An all-dark dial is highly preferred on this point - I have the blackeye-blue dial Chronomat 41 and have never looked back since. If the Airborne would come with an all-blue or BEB dial - well, I would have hard times to decide what to do... (And I do not like date window placed a la El Primero, on either models, particularly the frame around it on the Airborne - date would have a way better place at 6.) |

Without hesitation, I would trade. It sounds to me like you've pretty much already decided what to do, just do it and post some wrist shots already!! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for all the input. I have to say, I'm surprised at the uniformity of responses. I honestly thought there would be a wider range of opinions, but so far everyone has been in favor of trading up, and in favor of the Airborne. For those who like the Airborne, do you have any thoughts on whether it is too similar to the Galactic 44 in styling, such that it would almost be redundant to have both? Or is it an ideal complement to the Galactic? I go back and forth on the issue. Part of me thinks the Flying Fish would make for more variety, especially with its brushed surfaces and all black dial/sub configuration, but I do love the classic styling of the Airborne. I'm just not sure if having both a Galactic and an Airborne would be too much of a good thing. |

Hey Jackson... I would move the Aerospace as well. I was all set to tell you to go for the Airborne, then Matt above posts a killer shot of the flying fish! Have you tried either on? Also, how does the bezel look close up on the airborne? If it were me, and if the budget was stretched, I'd also look at that new limited Black Navitimer. That looks awesome... |
