Hi guys,

I own a great bretling superocean heritage 46mm and I love it.
I just saw at my dealer shop an amazing 2nd hand Super Avenger 48mm that looks like new.
I would like to ask some questions about it before spending money on it.
See the picture of the watch below.
One thing looks strange. Looking at the same model watch at Breitling web site, I see that the text on it is:
"BREITLING
1884
CHRONOMETRE
CERTIFIE
"

While on the picture below it is a bit different.
Can anyone explain the difference ? I dont suspect it is a fake since I trust the dealer but it may be a different type than what I see in the web site (picture is below).
Please kindly advice.

Other question is regarding it's huge size. I am a bit afraid to get it because of the "master" size it have. Any inputs here ?
The dealer told me that this was returned by a customer that was too "skinny" to carry it.
I am not skinny at all :| but a bit afraid that may be a "too big" one.

Thanks,
Amit

hi and welcome to the forum!

you're comparing two different things: the watch in the picture is the older super avenger model. the watch on the breitling web site is the latest super avenger II...
there are other differences and the most obvious to me is the different shape of the hour digits ("plain" on the older model - your picture, vs "stencil" on the newer model - the breitling web site).

if you look here http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_details/Avenger_78.html, you will see a number of different SA models, all perfectly legit!

hope this helps...

as to the size, it's a matter of build (and taste!), so very difficult to judge...
i'd love to get a SA, but have not yet found the right one at the right price! :-(

cheers,
pg

I want to comment about the size of the Super Avenger. First, I have a 6.5" wrist and I'm 6' 200. Based on my wrist size some would assume my wrist is too small for a SA. 5 years ago I decided I wanted to buy this watch but ultimately decided against it due to the size. I bought a Colt instead. I outgrew the size of the Colt in the matter of a month then bought a Crosswind Special (43.X mm). I love that watch but still kept on looking at the SA. One day I went on a business trip and ran in to someone who had an SA. He let me try it on. Even though it is a larger watch it wasn't as large as I made it out to be in my mind based on the comments I have read on forums and web sites.

Even though I already tried on the watch I yet again talked myself out of purchasing an SA after further reading comments on forums. Then one day I went to my AD and tried it on once again. I realized the perception and opinions of others were just different than my own. The watch looks fine on my 6.5" wrist. It's a big watch and Breitling didn't design it with the extra large man who can't find a suitable watch in mind. The Super Avenger was made to be a bold statement. It's suppose to be large. A lot of comments you read on forums and web sites pertaining to the Super Avenger are from people who 1. NEVER owned it or even tried it on or 2. have larger wrists and ASSUME it will be too large for smaller wrists or 3. are use to (and prefer) small 38mm-40mm watches. If your wrist is larger than mine, you have nothing to worry about. I look damn cool with mine and get nothing but the best compliments!
